My employer recently issued me a new Explorer with the 2.3 and I have to say I am pretty impressed with the 2.3/10a combo. Plenty of power and fun to drive.
I am wondering if it tied more the the frame than the body. Since they are using a new type of steel they are working closely with the steel vendor. They may be more limited on the production runs.
Looks like the hope of the 4.7 axle ratio on the non-SAS Badlands automatics availability has been officially squashed. I was pretty sure it was a B&P glitch....but was still hopefull.
Totally agree. I bet it will look amazing with a shadow black top. Unfortunately, does not pair well withe the navy pier. I think Navy Pier will only blend well with Oxford White, Iconic Silver and maybe Carbonized Gray.

By way of comparison the GoodYear Duratrac in the same 315/70R17 size weigh 61 lbs. and are D rated. They are a great tire, but are not known to have the best sidewall durability.

+1 on the tires being the biggest factor here. I ran GY Duratracs on my JKU with the premium soft top. All was relatively quiet until they started to wear down. Wind noise was not really a factor unless it was crazy windy out.

The flip feature seems to be versatile in that is still works with the top in sun-rider position. This back windows are going to take a beating though.
