  1. Now that the dust has settled.

I have many stories like this, but this one stands out... About 10 years ago, I was doing mold, welding, and assembly system engineering work for a certain massive Euro automotive OEM (name withheld on purpose). After I designed all of the tooling, had it machined, built it, and mostly...
  2. Now that the dust has settled.

Oh I dislike both the trend and the narrative behind the trend equally. The overly-complex nature of modern vehicles is mainly due to government overreach (EPA, NHTSA, etc), and partly due to manipulation of consumers into believing they need pointless features, too many choices, and constant...
  3. Now that the dust has settled.

I just don't like feeling funneled into the same group of choices that everyone else falls into. I'm not contrarian for the sake of being so, but I dislike most modern trends.
  4. Now that the dust has settled.

That's why I bought mine- needed a family vehicle and refused to get a soulless "crossover" or a minivan. I have absolutely zero interest in off-roading.
  5. Transmission Reliability

I know this is just anecdotal, but the only Ford transmission I ever had an issue with was a high mileage AOD with valvebody problems. I've had 4R's, 6R's, 10R's, C4/C6, TR6060, you name it. Beat the absolute snot out of some of them and never had an issue, including racing applications. The...
  6. We BURNED OUR RIG DOWN! (Jk. But could have been bad). Fire extinguisher saves the day.

In the Mach 1, we have it mounted directly behind the driver's seat so it keeps the sun off it for the most part. Only takes a second to pull the QD pin and have it ready to go. Definitely don't want to hide a fire extinguisher because every second counts. I'd rather have it accessible and...
  7. We BURNED OUR RIG DOWN! (Jk. But could have been bad). Fire extinguisher saves the day.

I indirectly learned the hard way. My father had some older fire extinguishers in his garage. The pressure relief valve one deteriorated and decided to fail on a hot summer day, peppering everything in the garage. It trashed everything it touched and was a nightmare to clean up.
  8. 2023 Bronco complaints

Overall I am very happy with mine. I had a GT500 and then a GT 'vert, but we were blessed with a baby and needed a family vehicle, so the 4dr Bronco really filled that gap well.. I do miss the GT500 and GT at times but no regrets. My biggest complaints are: 1) Window rattles at partial...
  9. Graphene vs. Ceramic?

I used DuraCoating Technologies Graph-X6. 3 coats after surface prep back when my Bronco was at about 1500 miles in April '23. After I felt comfortable applying it, I did the same to our '69 Mach 1 with a jet black mirror finish. On the Bronco it has held up everywhere except for the...
  10. We BURNED OUR RIG DOWN! (Jk. But could have been bad). Fire extinguisher saves the day.

Just a PSA... Any fire extinguisher is better than none, but for automotive, Halotron is far superior to ABC and safer to store. I keep an H3R Halotron extinguisher with a quick change bracket so I can swap it between vehicles.
  11. New Start Up Animation

"Update" is quickly becoming the worst word in the English language. 99% chance that it wasn't necessary and some underqualified goomba that got their programming "degree" from Reddit wrecked some critical function, all because someone said "hey we should change the GUI for the 1000th time for...
  12. Adding a 12" Swing-Gate Sub- Questions regarding install

I had a sub-delete '23, so I spent the weekend installing Kicker speakers all around, upgraded the rear pods, Plug-N-Play 200.4 and a 500.1 with a 6.75" sub in the enclosure. I also did SecondSkin soundproofing. The sound difference was amazing. It went from being the worst sounding audio in...
  13. Kicker Key Amp 200.4 Install DIY Video - Do this first!

I just wanted to say THANK YOU to the OP for the instructional video. Condensing it down to less than 5 minutes without missing a step is massively appreciated. I feel like every other instructional video these days is filled with garbage nonsense filler just to force every video to be 40m+...
  14. Is it possible to own a Bronco without a broken windshield?

I have the same one. It made a world of difference. I did have to put weatherstripping foam along the hood body line though because of the insane whistle the deflector produced. Fantastic after that.
  15. Is it possible to own a Bronco without a broken windshield?

I leave a massive distance between myself and the vehicle in front. Within the first month of ownership, my windshield had two pronounced chips. I put on the Aeroskin hood deflector and that seemed to help- haven't had a chip since and it really cut down on the bug splattery. I also go out...
  16. How much MPG will I gain going from 2.7L Wildtrak SAS to 2.3 Everglades?

It's the tires, weight, and driving behavior, not the engine. I have a 2.7 OBX and I'm averaging 23.x mpg with a 50/50 mix of highway and in-town driving. I used to get about 22.5mpg average in an '18 Mustang GT, and 17mpg in a built '14 GT500.
  17. 4Dr Soft Top - Quarter Window Keeps Popping Out (tried everything...)

In case anyone stumbles on this thread with the same issue... I disassembled everything again, made sure the top rails were extended as far as possible (they were), reinstalled everything, and used the end of a soft plastic handle to press the rear quarter window tab into the track. I used...
  18. Looking for alternatives to Fusion amp for 6.75" bass on '23

I'm one of the "lucky" ones who got the sub delete on a '23. I already ordered rear pods and 6.75" kicker speakers, along with a 6.75" subwoofer (4ohm) per recommendations in other threads, and I'll do the Forscan work. I am curious what the best alternative is for the FP5T Fusion amp to...
  19. 4Dr Soft Top - Quarter Window Keeps Popping Out (tried everything...)

I hadn't considered reducing the gap to reduce tension- I figured the issue was a lack of tension. I did notice that the driver's side track had a gap, meaning it was at the far end of the slot. The passenger side had a smaller gap, so I adjusted it out to match the other side which had no...
  20. 4Dr Soft Top - Quarter Window Keeps Popping Out (tried everything...)

I know of one, personally, but he has a hard top. I actually went around with dial calipers to measure gaps and distances between the driver's side (non-issue) and passenger's side (issue) and couldn't find anything different other than the cable tension on the canopy.
