  1. Why do we hate Auto Start/Stop so much?

    So, what is the solution?
  2. Why do we hate Auto Start/Stop so much?

"You had my curiosity, but now you have my attention." Are you referring to a solution to rampant cell phone addiction and distracted driving? I have thought about localized geofencing at the driver's seat that locks out functions other than 911. Of course, then people would lean into the...
  3. Why do we hate Auto Start/Stop so much?

As much as I loathe A/S/S, cell phone addiction is a larger contributor to the delay at intersections. They stack though. They have to look up from their stupid cell phone to realize they have a green light, then lift their foot off the brake, hope A/S/S engages quick, and then they still...
  4. How heavy is your Bronco?

It depends on what I am listening to.
  5. An explanation of why to disable Auto Stop Start

I couldn't agree more. I have had many, many arguments with OEMs on engineering projects. I'll wind up with a C&D at my doorstep if I mention names, so I won't go there, but you'd be shocked at the lunacy of some OEM IE/DE engineers and project/program managers. I have been in meetings where...
  6. Sweating the dumb stuff

Trust me, I get it. I don't have an answer other than "it only has as much value as you assign to it." Not an immediate relief, but a mindset you have to establish over time. All you can do is chalk it up as a life lesson. Appreciate the lesson and avoid the issue in the future.
  7. Where's your Bronco taken you recently?

To the collision center, since people in my state don't know how to drive and keep slamming into our vehicles.
  8. 2025 Bronco Sound Deadening

I can't speak for the '25, but on my '23 with a soft top, it was noticeably quieter than the Jeep JKU we had years ago. When I took the interior apart to address the "sub-delete" and add amps, I put in two boxes of SecondSkin Damplifier pro on the larger panel areas. I had some MLV left too...
  9. The Jeep wave, to wave or not to wave back

My wife and I have been in 11 accidents in the last 14 years- not a single one was our fault. 3 were major, several were hit and runs, some were extremely minor but still due to other people's negligence and phone addiction. I can't tell you how many I have avoided due to quick reflexes...
  10. The Jeep wave, to wave or not to wave back

I'm too busy watching their front driver's tire making sure it doesn't go over the double-yellow and annihilate my vehicle with my family in it to notice if they are waving.
  11. I Destroyed a Tesla and may be too old for my Bronco [LOCKED DUE TO POLITICS]

There's also a law about drunk driving but that doesn't stop 'em from doing it and killing my family members. People, in general, have no sense of self awareness or how their actions affect others. And, most of those who do simply do not care. Legislation cannot solve a "people" issue.
  12. EPA to end Auto Start/Stop on cars!

Meanwhile, I can't get local police to pull people over for crossing the double yellow, despite there being daily head-on accidents in my small town of 3300, but they set up speed traps for 36 in a 35. I was told by a town admin that I'm "making up the issue" because she hasn't been in an...
  13. EPA to end Auto Start/Stop on cars!

Wall of text tl;dr: "I agree with you" Most police officers enforce what they know can be proven with basic measurement devices. That's why so many cops around here don't bother with enforcing distracted driving laws- every textaholic claims they "weren't texting, just using GPS", and the...
  14. EPA to end Auto Start/Stop on cars!

The days of eye-watering "brain damage imminent" non-emissions-controlled heavenly scent from exhaust have been replaced with clouds of strawberry vape and wacky-tobbacy coming from peeling purple-tinted windows at every red light. This is not the future I was promised.
  15. How much is your registration renewal....

Mine was around $400 for the Bronco and $12 for the Mach 1- that's annual renewal fee and property theft tax. I also volunteer to clean the dilapidated roads that my taxes supposedly pay for, that haven't been repaved since before I was alive.
  16. EPA to end Auto Start/Stop on cars!

No, I just use the sink.
  17. EPA to end Auto Start/Stop on cars!

Extremely well said. In most debatable topics, I see both sides, and can almost always empathize with the face motive even if I disagree. Environmentalism- I grew up being taught to recycle, clean up roads, dispose of oil properly, minimize waste, minimize chemical use, you name it. I still...
  18. EPA to end Auto Start/Stop on cars!

Gas saved < Additional carbon footprint from the manufacturing, logistics, install, wear, replacement, etc of all components needed for A/S/S I miss when automotive ingenuity was squeezing out every available horsepower on a given engine platform rather than chasing arbitrary emissions...
  19. Makeshift DIY emergency rain cover/slow driving doors

I agree. I have never understood the appeal of taking the doors off. They have this neat feature that works great for emergency rain situations- rolling up the windows. Joking aside, I can't get enough armor around me to feel comfortable on any road these days.
  20. block VIN #

That seems like a lot of effort, reminds me of Gone in 60 Seconds... Near me, we deal with roaming carjacker rings from Atlanta. One stole a neighbor's truck a few years ago. Everybody in our neighborhood has a ton of cameras in every direction now. We catch someone scoping out properties...
