Yeah, unpainted plastic is fine by me, I meant what it will look like when the metal fender the flares are attached to is wider, like the 'Bomber' prototypes.
I'm not sold on the flares, they could be better, but they don't look as weird as the ones on the 2 door broncokong photo did to me. Will be interesting to see what options there are and what it looks like with wider metal fenders in the high performance version.
Good thing the Canadian insurance companies are behind enough they won't be able to take advantage of this.
I'm betting there'll be something clever you can do with ForScan to disable it, regardless. Same story as pulling the OnStar fuse in a GM.
For the class it's going to be competing in, that looks really good. Kinda gives me a mini 4Runner vibe. I'm not interested in it but I can see these selling really well if the specs are there to back it up.
I'm kinda torn between a bright color and black accents, or a dark color and red mud flaps etc. My corvette is already blue, so probably not blue, even though I do like the Ford performance blue...
Also how good it will look muddy and how well it will hide scratches are important...
Yeah, 33s rather than 35s, which is not a small difference in terms of fitting them into fenders. I can't find a hard number on how much it was lifted, but according to this article it has 2" more ground clearance, so probably around that much. It's also a differently shaped fender...
Everything I've seen with a rear mounted spare has a lock on one of the nuts on the back. My Pajero does and the Wranglers I've seen do too. I'd be shocked if the Bronco doesn't.
Yep, that's plenty of storage. You can carry 4 people or a bunch of gear, but not both at the same time, which is perfectly fine for my usage.
The 4 door will offer more space for those that need it.
I hope you are correct. The painted flares on the 4 door certainly looked more like that, and looked a lot better. It could have been the lighting or angle on the 2 door that made them look more flat on the top, or maybe it's the transition between painted metal and unpainted flare on the 2 door...
Had to go back and double check, but the ones on the 2 door are definitely significantly different to the wrangler. Where the wrangler angles out and then has a flat downward section, the 2 door we saw had a part that just sticks straight out. Something like this:
That's what makes it look...
I can't see even a Baja version needing to run rims bigger than 17" to clear the brakes, but you're probably right that going down from that won't be easy. The Raptor runs 17 that clear its brakes, and it's muuuuch heavier than the Bronco will be.
Yeaah, the pictures are already out there, Jalopnik just posted them recently, and they tend not to listen to manufacturer requests around leaks...

Very much not thrilled on those weird straight out fender flares, but this being the base model I'm sure the higher trims will look better and wider.
Thanks for the pics mr Kong!
I like the bright orange labels..."Front Axle", "Transfer Case", and "Transmission". Tells you the sort of people they are expecting to be looking at it.
A little surprising but far from impossible (remember I'm talking 2 door base model)
A 2 door wrangler sport is 3,970lb, and they aren't all aluminum (about 75% supposedly). A base new Explorer is 4,345 lbs, and that's a much larger vehicle than a 2 door Bronco will be.
