Since this one is sold, maybe you could try reaching out to a local dealership and seeing if they'd match prices. My local parts manager gave me the price from Ford Parts Distributor, which was very close to the asking price here. I picked it up the day after ordering.

Correct. They have their own rail that covers the pinch weld. They are not meant to support the same weight as the factory rock rails.

It's not clearly written, but the Ford hoop steps replace the rock rails. My suggestion (as someone who has them and actually likes them) is to not get them. There are plenty of similar aftermarket steps that cost only slightly more and mount directly to the rock rails. One thing I will say...

I definitely understand that, but that edge still makes me nervous. Fingers crossed that the paint all stays down and doesn't start to crack off! Be careful if you wipe it down. No matter what, upholstery should be a nice upgrade and could help hide any issues.
