I don't think it leaking either. Just can 1/4-1/3 of a quart shy really cause this issue to come on that fast? Maybe, seems unrealistic to me, but I'm also not qualified to say it won't.
I'm not saying no to the oil theory either, just skeptical. Next best theory is a tolerance issue...
My only criticism with low oil theory is those of us that have had the sound since day one. I arguably noticed the sound with under 200 miles, I can't imagine thats enough time for it to progress. However, I do think it louder today than it was when I got it, and also does it at any temp now...
I doubt that, article says it’s just a sound. Manuals already have lower resale than the autos. This problem will get fixed and it’ll become old news like the 2.7 valves.
Follow-up comes faster than expected! Apparently the owner started a new post with an update. Looks like work was completed on the 4th. No new photos but overall impression is good:
“It’s great. Matter of fact it’s better than day one. It has always made a tiny noise even when they replaced the...
Actual post is in 2 Door Bronco 6G Owners group. No major updates. But this owner had a transmission replaced prior, and apparently several transmission “flushes”. Looks like the replacement gears may have been lost by FedEx? Not sure this owner even got the bronco back yet but I asked. Will...
I think we all worry about this, I almost expect this to climb to the level of a recall once ford seems to really figure out root cause.
oil level/type is still pure speculation. Could be bad machining on these synchros that are getting replaced. Of course that could mean hit and miss...
I like others agree with the theory that either low oil or incorrect oil is the culprit. Starts as a minor then progress to a full time sound with some evidence of damage.
edit: I’d like to think they would have checked the oil level on a new trans but I’m also a firm subscriber in if u want...
I’m not sure this was ever posted here but an owner in a FB group posted that they had the TSB performed and the sound went away.
They included these pictures of the 5 and 6th gear having “friction weld” burn marks on them. Oil was also visibly discolored with metal. I screen grabbed those...
I've noticed that the sound goes away when the engine gets warmed up, but at the same time the RPMS drop to about 800, noise is still there, just the whole thing is spinning slower and so the audible sound is gone. Accelerate the engine back to 1,200-1,300 RPMs in neutral and it comes back.

We'll ride along part of the Georgia Traverse making our way up to higher elevations with a few good photo...
Currently sitting at 3/4 responding yes to having the noise. That's a lot! Had it since day one basically. Trying to get in for service, can't get a dealer to look at it till the 16th of January.
Grassy Gap Road outside Lumpkin, GA is easy to moderate. I did it as a first time, not too bad. I would want to do it with someone more experienced or at least familiar with that trail.
There is a Bronco group getting together on New Years Day in North GA for some very easy trail riding if...
Starting to think the sound is louder in colder climates. We’re just barely dropping below 40F-50F in the morning right now in GA. Based on your jacket cuff alone I’d say it’s a bit colder where you are.
Added my clip, sorry it’s just dark I filmed closer to the pedals, can hear the sound much...
That’s the loudest clip of the sound I’ve heard. How many miles on your transmission? Mine does it too but not nearly as loud. I’m considering getting an oil sample to send out to Blackstone, you should too. Would be interesting to see if can confirm metals in the oil.
I think I read somewhere the approved hours for this repair are possibly not long enough, my guess dealers giving long timelines in hopes we go somewhere else.
The equivalent of the over the top contractor quote for a job that’s too small.
For sure, this dealer is super close to me, and it would be great to use them, but every time I have to interact with them they're complete garbage.
Personally I'm not too worried, I think the damage to the trans will be minimal with the oil hopefully doing its job, but given the time to get...
Well now that there is a TSB I'm trying to schedule my Bronco to get looked at and having a not so fun time with that.
First Place I called basically told me to pound sand. When I asked when I could get on the schedule to get looked at and was told quote, "I have no idea". So I asked if I...
