Wait, what? I thought every problem was Fordās fault? At least thatās what I thought I learned after reading the forums the last several yearsā¦..
Mine were the original so I canāt comment on the newest tread design. I will say that before the Bronco Iād never had a rig throw rocks on the hood or top and Iāve been driving trucks with all terrain tires since the early 1980s. Luckily that got better after a while and Iāve since moved on to a...
My Goodyears stopped collecting as much gravel after wearing down some 7,000 to 10,000 miles in. (Mightāve been closer to 5,000 but I flat tow the Bronco behind the motorhome so Iām not exactly sure.) Others have reported the same.
They were there for at least two rounds of cocktails, I kid you not! I think they were discussing the map on the back, where theyād been and where theyād go.
Iāll qualify this post with the statement that Iām not blaming the user, the process could definitely be simpler and more bullet proof. Especially in todayās world where many us, including myself, have a real difficult time of following 8 steps of written instructions. This issue definitely...
But then you have to put the trailer somewhere when itās not in use and 90% of the parks Iāve been in (thatās more than 150 the past 5 years) donāt have room at your space.
That said hereās an advantage to a car trailer most people havenāt thought of.
Iāll add one more thing that I just thought of after my latest trip which includes 6,000 miles and more than 30 stops.
When Iāve had the āshift inhibit warningā I know:
1) I either didnāt fully press the brake pedal, which happened a few times on my latest trip.
or
2) Since Iāve been doing...
Iām not sure how to know if youāve got the current version but I just compared the online manual for my 2022 and the manual on my Bronco screen. Other than some wording and other minor things theyāre the same. Itās interesting the Bronco version includes the word āfullyā on item 3 prior to...
@56huck,
Sucks to hear about your transmission!
How many miles/hours on the trips are you towing before the failure? Asking because during my latest trip, I had the shift inhibit warning two times (out of 32 trips) but only after being on the road for 6-8 hours and never during one of the...
I go online to Fordās website and print from there. I think Iāve noticed a few changes the past three years although I couldnāt tell you what they are and I donāt keep old copies or do a side by side comparison so itās possible itās never changed. The manual in the Bronco should be the latest...
Also, hereās my before and after weight.
Aftermarket
Warn Zeon 10s Winch = 71# (with rope, fair lead and hook)
JCR Off-road (listed weight includes hardware):
Bumper = 95#
Prerunner Bar = 15#
Tranny Skid = 52#
Front Skid = 57#
Front Skid Mounting Brackets = 7#...
Steel, JCR didnāt recommend the aluminum since Iād be flat towing. No side load, no frame horn reinforcement for the winch unless you count the LOD reinforcement mounts which attach to the Bronco frame and where the bumper mounts (I added those for towing safety cable more than winch...
āSomething for meā + āIām not going to be doing any extreme off-roadingā + āI just want to be able to take off into the woods, explore logging roads, etc.ā = Might eventually lead to a desire to do tougher trails and possibly a full blown off-road addiction. Future proof the purchase with the...
If youāre desperate get yourself a deep cycle boat battery (lithium best, most useable power and lightest) and hook it directly to that while sleeping. Heck, Iād probably do that anyway since Iād be nervous about the cooler using too much of my Broncoās starter battery.
Hereās the picture of the stacker hitch. Because my Broncoās bumper connection points are 29ā off the ground I needed a 10ā riser hitch for the tow bars. I had a welding shop that specializes in hitches weld a second receptacle 6ā (center to center) above the 10ā high one. I probably shouldāve...
Hereās another one after seeing my old picture the admin added:
Get a stacker hitch receptacle and move the bike rack to the motorhome above the tow bar. It makes is so much easier because you donāt have to take the bike rack off the Bronco (I prefer not having to deal with bikes when parking...
Some tips Iāll offer specific to the Bronco, feel free to add to the list. Iāve got a 2022 Badlands with a 2.7 and 4A.
Iāve towed my Bronco over 16,000 miles and hooked/unhooked it and put it in/out of flat tow mode without an issue over 100 times. I stopped pulling fuses after the software fix...
https://www.bronco6g.com/forum/threads/bronco-raptor-hitch-diy-install-with-pictures.54556/page-3
the thread on the hitch upgrade. May or may not actually increase tongue weight but surely wonāt hurt anything but your wallet
Another option is a stout aftermarket rear bumper with an integrated...
Get and install the Bronco Raptor hitch supports. There was a thread on here a while back about you might be able to fInd. Iāll look for it and if I find it will add to this thread.
Edit: Iād also get some nylon webbing cinch straps and secure the bike rack to the Broncoās recovery points under...
