Thanks. I was aware I didn't need it, just wanted to try it. I had done it before, just to feel a little off-roady, but remembered to switch back to 2H when I got to the main road.
I -did- smell something. I thought it was brakes, but then it went away. My commute to the ranch is 8 miles--2 in town, 5 on fwy, 1 on dirt road. Did that twice, plus some errands, before I discovered the error of my ways. No wheel spacers AFAIK
Thanks, Joshua. I probably did go over 70 for some of that, but it will never happen again, now that I know it holds that setting. I apologized profusely to Steamboat and gave him an extra special ceramic dry wash, window gloss, and tire dressing.
I neglected to turn 4H back to 2H after leaving the ranch last week. (I thought it automatically went back after the engine shut off.) So I drove around 40-50 miles, some freeway, before I discovered it. Did I hurt anything? Do I need to take it in to the shop?
There are several "worth the wait" threads, including in our 1/3/22 Build Week group. Yes, it was worth the wait. I love Steamboat. It's like labor and delivery--once it's over, you forget the pain. And you have a new baby!
I think the match is perfect, even in the shade. Any lighter and it would call too much attention to itself. On the other hand, you don't want your wife seeing red. :-)
I've found that Rain-X streaks more w/ the plush microfiber towels, less to not all, depending on how many squashed bugs on there, with the Rag Company's Standard waffle weave. (Not their professional Korean plush waffle weave.)
Have a great time at Vegas Off Roadeo! Lots of pix, please!
CG VRP is $10/16 oz, $40/a gallon so some savings there. Let us know if you find something more economical w/ UV shield. It will probably take a quart to do the top.
The dressing is also a UV protectant, which is important for Steamboat, out in the sun much of the time. At some point, my little 5'2" self will mount the ladder and dress the top. Believe me, keeping a ranch car clean is a Sisyphean task. Last week the watering truck was broken and the ranch...
Keep in mind that until last Saturday, I was basically a car washing virgin. Only got as far a third base with my other cars--a little spritz here and there or a commercial car wash. Can't do the latter, even touchless, with the ceramic coating. Have to DIY. Watched about 10 hours of car wash...
@Kimberley Here is the nearly complete list, minus some power washer attachments, that my ceramic (graphene) coating guy gave to me for aftercare at the time of his service. He has since texted me some other stuff which I got*

At the Beer Zoom last night, a few of us talked about doing Eastern Sierra/Death Valley in the Fall, possibly in conjunction with the Lone Pine Western Film Festival/Alabama Hills. We were thinking of going down there this month, but temps are approaching 130° in the shade.
Does anyone want to split a pair of chrome Bronco retro script badges? I bought 2 for my fenders, want one for my tail gate. I love the look and the OCDPlug company guys are great.
