I have a 2 door BD with 33s. The Standard coilovers are not bad, but I want a little more height (about an inch) and more wheel travel. I don’t want to spend $3000 or more for aftermarket coilovers.
So like many here, I’m thinking of going with either BL (Special) or Sasquatch (High Ride)...
Spot on! It's hilarious how many people are bagging on you for buying a $200 shovel because you like it/want it, while many of them are probably guilty of buying a Badlands and/or Sasquatch package just because they want it but really don't need it. It's an awesome shovel and should last you...
I’m running Falken AT3W (285/70R17 Cs) on my 2 door BD. So far I’m impressed with them. They’ve been great in the rain, snow and desert roads. Their new RT-02 sounds intriguing. Wish it had come out a few months ago.
Guess I’m “no one”. I’ve been wheeling off-road (Moab and such) 30 years on C load tires. Had only one flat too in all those years. Maybe that’s because my style is finesse and I’m not heavy footed. Take care of your tires and they’ll get you home.
Consider Falken’s A/TW3. They are available in 285/70R17, C load. That’s what I put on my 2D BD. So far they’ve been great. Quiet on the road, great in the snow (they have a 3 Peak rating), good in light mud, and great on desert dirt roads. I have yet to rock crawl with them so I can’t speak to...
I’ve been toying with doing the same thing on my 2 door Black Diamond. Did you have to get new coils too or just the shocks? What about the rear track bar? Did the extra height (.67”) noticibly shift the axle towards the left?
I bought my 2 door through Young Ford in Morgan. Paid MSRP and they were great to work with. Their Bronco specialist is very knowledgeable and easy to work with.
I'm new to coilovers with IFS and have a couple questions I hope someone can answer. First, Fabtech's 1.5" kit has spacers that go on top of the coilover, and ReadyLIFT's kit looks to put spacers on the top and bottom. Is one way better than the other and if so, why? Second question. Can these...
If you decide to stick with C load tires, there many options in the LT285/70R17 size. Here are a few all terrain choices.
Nitto Ridge Grappler
Falken A/T3W
BF Goodrich K02
Toyo Open Country A/T III
I had my dealer put on the Falkens. So far they have been great, but I have yet to rock crawl my...
The 1 inch (actually 0.78") is from the difference in the offset (20mm less positive offset). Offsets are based on the center of the wheel. For example, an 8" wide wheel with 0mm offset has the mounting face at the centerline of the wheel/tire. Change that offset to +55mm (the stock wheel...
The stock steelies are 17x7.5 with +55mm offset. So my wheels “push” the tires out about an inch. LT 285/70R17s will fit on the stock wheels and I’m certain they won’t rub anywhere. I kept my steelies and plan to buy a second set of 33s (MTs) to put on them for summer fun.
LT285/70R17s Falken ATw3s (same size as non-dad Badlands) on Alpha Delta 17x8.5 wheels with +35mm offset. They do not come even close to rubbing on anything.
My 2 door BD is the best stock 4x4 I have ever had. Sounds like someone had unrealistic expectations.
Yes, having to learn to pick your line will make you a better off roader. When I got my Bronco I gave my 16 year old son my modified Jeep XJ, but I pulled out the locker first. I want him to...
Has anyone tried a spray deicer like CRCs Ice-Off?
You can also make your own by mixing 2 parts isopropyl alcohol with 1 part water. Mix it in a spray bottle and add a few drops of dish soap per cup of fluid. It's may take a couple minutes or so, but it usually works.
Great post and sound advice. Like anything, you get what you pay for and cheap first aid kits don’t last long in a vehicle. Check out
mymedic.com. They offer high quality kits, and kits based on purpose. For example, their “Popular Mechanics, Auto Medic” kit includes a tourniquet and window...
