there have been more than a few CV failures as well already but seems the tie rod or the 2.7 in general has the most failures. I know this is the first year but seems to be weak.
I am a little concerned opening the rear when it is below freezing. How did it feeling opening it in the snow? I had a rear TJ window crack at around 14 deg F.
The bronco would have rolled there. The Jeeps both on purpose did the turn in one shot that put the vehicles in a less that optimum angle but the solid axle once the weigh shift brings the front back down but that would not happen on an IFS. You can see him wiggle the front to have it force...
I agree but the nice thing about a locker is you can run it open and if you get into trouble hit the switch. I do that all the time with only the sway bar Disconnect but with all these Jeep vs Bronco videos it makes me self conscience. Case in point there is a video on here where people in the...
Lockers are not needed unless they are. Getting stuck, breaking something or rolling is more common the harder you have to hit an obstacle. With lockers you do not have to bounce on things like he did. If you are just going to do easy trails then I would actually say you should not get the...
I am with you for a trail rig. Something so fun and rewarding about being able to put tires in holes just to play and letting the axles articulate like an insect. IFSs rigs like my RZR or Ranger could make it through but I am always trying to flatten out the trail and staying level. Always...
As a light joke at this point I would say Rock fodder. Sounds like broken the last two times out on rocks. Sounds like the next run went better but that would be 1 out of the last 3 or Rocks=2 Bronco=1. Lol. Joke aside I am really glad someone is out pushing the Bronco to learn the weak...
Not always. Here it is a very good idea with IFS. Keeps the CG low and the control arms/ CVs at a better angle while retaining as much travel as possible. The other option would have been extremely expensive which would have been to relocate the control arms and front diff lower. Once a lift...
ok here you go. From the Utah website. And no the bead lock is not a myth. There are DOT approved Bead locks. Why do you think Jeep and Ford sell bead lock capable wheels that you have to modify to work...
Maybe I have this wrong but the DOT approves or not approves what can be on our highway system. States can make exceptions to public roads and usually has speed limits in place. You are not going to find a state law that prohibits a nationally prohibited item. You will find laws that instead...
I agree. DOT does all sorts of weird things. Look at the history of headlights. Pop up headlight was a US thing because we did not allow two layers of glass in front of a light. Look at the original JDM Honda NSX vs Acura NSX. We only just this year allowed advanced headlights that have...
Stickey Mickey Thompson Baja Pro X from his description. There are a few states that they are so you have to check as someone else pointed out. Now there is also the fact that most police will not know but they do say "Off Highway Only" on the side but they do look most ATV with a lot larger...
Sorry, was noticing the video was in Utah and I know non-DOT tires are not legal there for highway. Now if you will actually get pulled over is another question. Sweet rig though!
This is why I do not trust safety ratings. I see all the time ta bigger SUV sitting higher do better against a smaller car almost 100% of the time if it is apples to apples ( front to front i.e.). I would not be surprised due to the size and weight that the Bronco rate just OK even though in a...
Gotcha thanks. I assumed that the M210 would be the same M210 Advantek D44 diff from the JL with the 32 spline setup. Another question is can you change out the Ring and pinion? According to this post is the front is a sealed unit?
Sorry to hear it. The first video you did it right going slow and being pulled out when it was to deep. I could be wrong but it did look like you needed some speed for the line you took due to deep mud then a climb out, just a little to much :). Hope you get it fixed under warrantee but if...
