Correct. Just add, for the one that arguing, drive it easy and take it easy if really cold. Under normal conditions, keep the RPMs down for the first few minutes or miles. If in a residential area, your going to cruise in 3rd gear manual and 4th gear auto at about 1800 RPMs, so just take it...
I bought one with a list price of $109 on Black Friday for $30, and I'm sure it's not a $109 hitch, but more like the many that are $59-$79 and look identical; we all know many vendors sell the same parts on Amazon. I'm only using it for a carrier so I'm OK with a IAG or like vendor, which is...
We canceled a Thanksgiving trip to Death Valley because of the roads. I'm looking to do a 2-3 day Mojave Road to the CO River run in the future; about 150 miles of off road and BLM camping too, Afton Canyon is out there too. I also want to go to Joshua Tree. And... too.
So much cool stuff to...
I grew up in OC and ran all of Santiago Peak, AKA Saddleback Mountain when all the trials were open, now many gates are locked, but there's a couple of routes open, which way do you want to come in? Are you North or South OC? South off the top of Ortega is a truck road, very mild, I haven't...
Another benefit will be tire wear and 35" tires are not cheap and wear faster than trailer tires, if used enough, trailer will pay for itself in tires and wear & tear/maintenance cost over time.
While food & water are important, those are not gear you buy for wheeling, those are things you pack for... well, every long trip. Like Boyan said, different wheeling has different needs and Aonarch said, there are more than 3 things needed to go out.
But the question is three things to buy...
It sounds like your AC frozen up the system, I noticed the defrost turns on the AC too, but I've turned it off when I use out of habit. It's suppose to help take out condensation, but I've found it to be a waste and unnecessary to run the AC with the defrost.
I almost bought a windshield & wheels warranty from the dealer, mostly for the windshield coverage since it covered OEM replacements windshields; but decided against it. They would have refinished rings when damaged, but really, how big of a pain that would have been to do so just to go out do...
I had to reread that, the key here is "will never go", as in WILL, not can't and I agree. A Sport BL has good enough clearance and awd with nannies to get one to some pretty cool places and remote camping. It's size would make it fun to "rally" a bit on a forest road.
Your effort is working...
Like many have said it's many different reasons, many of those add up together for the whole. Exploring Death Valley or another amazing place and seeing places & things, going where pedestrian vehicles can't; opens up a world of places you wouldn't be able to go to with a CUV AWD or a lessor...
Thank you for that great post!
It's pretty much as I thought. The Buttercup example is a good one and I figured as much. I was still a year out from getting my Bronco and they (and others) were already getting a foothold/established in the Bronco market. And they feature her on the "cover"...
Funny, until you mentioned it, I didn't think about a side v. top opening; I am using for just one add a circuit and knew I'd have to disconnect that one wire to open fully. There is enough wire for me to pull cover up and tilt up, but I also can unplug the connector that's right under the...
Love it. AND I really appreciate you putting it out for the community to use and copy. I have access to a wood shop where I could build one, but I don't have a garage to store my rear seats and flooring when removed or this would be very tempting to do.
For almost my first year I ran around...
I too wonder, do I just buy in bulk and market online? Or, I take orders on a website and ship from original distributor/importer? Or, become a distributor for a Chinese manufacturers?
We do see identical items from multiple retailers on Amazon, some with known names (IAG & Mabett) and others...
Probably not, the one from Mabett is the basically the same as the OEM lid. Same mold or supplier?
Except, the lid has the slot shaped hole & frame with slots for the wires with a cover and rubber gasket and the thread holes for the hand bolts for the cover; no map inside.
But it works.
Had that harness adapter been available (or I could find it) back when I did my lights, that would have worked; and at a sale price of $34 v. the other wire harness for $50 I would have done it.
It's funny how I (we?) price the value of things, $34 v $50 for a wiring fix, but I bought that...
Bought a few items, but the best bang for the buck was this:

I'm using an "add-a-circuit" for the grill lights and this solved the problem of the fuse box lid not sealing.
I've been using an "add-a-circuit" for grill lights (it came with them), and the wire prevented the box from latching close properly, (I didn't hack it up... yet) and of all the little things, whenever I saw it or thought about it, it bugged me; dust and water can get into the fuse box...
