there is no LSD on the Rubi which is why I got rid of it. You obviously haven’t read any of my posts. I don’t want a rear locker. Rear lockers are useless unless you’re stuck or near it.
I want to add an LSD. Are people adding Tru Tracs or Fords Trac Lok ?
nice. if I didn’t have to drive into stud free zone every week that would be my choice. Those tires actually earn their 3 peak designation unlike the winter rated AT’s guys bomb around in up here.
Studless R2’s have been good but I miss the studs on straight ice. Will be replacing with either...
“running Nokian Hakkapeliitta LT3's.”
Did you stud these ? I went with R2’s at the time because I have to drive into an area that prohibits studs.
the R2’s do amazingly well at mimicking studs but on ice they still can’t match studded.
I would assume the Ford integrated controller is hooked to the ECU so it's more accurate than an aftermarket. Plus it would be nice to have the info on the screen and just an overall cleaner look
I dont know alot about FORScan but I plan on adding an electric brake controller to my Bronco.
Would it be possible to add the brake controller hardware from the Maverick and use FOREScan to hack access to the controls on the screen like my Mav has ?
What are the aftermarket LSD solutions?
I have a 2dr on the way that originally was going to my son but due to late delivery, I will be taking ownership. I plan on doing occasional towing of my boat with this and driving in a lot of snow so I would like to add the LSD.
Not much to complain considering the size for the 2dr.
I’ll add brake controller and should be good. I imagine the Mav integrated controller can be brought up on the screen with FORScan
the dealer who sold me the Mav tells me it’s because of a heavy duty cooler on the Bronco.
1.5k over the 2dr JL is significant. I’ll be towing with mine
^^^ guilty as charged. I got the Rubi because I thought it would be the safest winter driver. Never did encounter a situation where I needed to engage the locker. The Selec Trac on the Sahara, however, was appreciated on almost every trip.
Can't imagine it will be long before Ford offers an...
I had 32" Hakka R2's on the Rubi and moved them to the Sahara. The LSD on the Sahara was definitely appreciated for winter driving.
Assuming this could be added aftermarket on the Bronco as well
thanks. This is what I was unsure of. I find the Sahara a much better driver during winter than my Rubicon was. So I would expect the Bronco would align more with the Rubi performance in snow ?
No. Just trying to understand the bronco system.
. I get that locking diff is great but general driving in snow I’m not leaving it on
The main reason I switched from a Rubicon to Sahara for my go to snow vehicle was the SelecTrac was far more useful than locking rear.
One reason I find the Sahara great in most snow conditions is the Trac loc/Selec Trac that works while 4WD is active
from what I can tell GOAT is not equivalent nor would it be as effective in snow
in theory would not a Sahara equipped w/Selec Trac not be better in most snow conditions...
Won’t be too worried as long as I install the brake controller.
Assuming it’s cooling. That’s partially what gets Mav from 2k to 4K
On Mav you go 2k to 4K with cooling, gearing and built in trailer brake controller
Bronco they are all rated 3k
I ended up purchasing a Wrangler JL as I couldn't wait for the Bronco. It was supposed to be a graduation gift for my son but he managed to graduate before the Bronco was built.
I still have the Bronco on order and am considering keeping it for myself (and wife) even though I just got my...
