I tow a 2200lb travel trailer with a Forester. It's only rated for 1500. We got a class 2 hitch put on it, and a sway bar kit. We do fine. I'll be towing that same trailer with the bronco, but I'll be able to fill the water tank, and put stuff in the back.
My sacrifice will be downgrading from Badlands to Black Diamond, and not getting the High package, just Mid. I can't sacrifice v6, auto, sasquatch, and drain plug floors. Those will be on my Bronco, regardless of trim.
I'm debating, and maybe you guys can shed some light on the badlands advantages.
My wife is adamant about drain plug floors and marine interior, so we can clean it out easily. That means Badlands or Black Diamond. My priorities are Sasquatch, Mid package, body color hard top, and sound...
My wife loves it. She insists on a wash out interior, but otherwise I get to pick all of the options. So, it looks like an upgraded Badsquatch is in our future. (Or, if I can magically get the wash out features on a Wildtrak)
We have a BRZ and a Forester. We decided to keep the BRZ, and trade in...
That's gotta be the plan. I do that when I'm towing my travel trailer, and it's fine. It's all about setting expectations. You plan to drive 60, not 75. Life goes on. Enjoy the ride.
Are those hard tops black or the molded in gray standard hard top? I think the gray looks good with a black bronco, but kind of weird on the other colors. (Well, I haven't seen it with carbonized gray.)
I personally would love a single piece removable top. In the PNW, it's all or nothing; rain or shine. I'll leave it on stands in my garage when I want it off. I'd prefer that it didn't leak between the modular panels in the rain. (Hopefully there will be some after market gasket improvements...
I think the 33's will do everything I need. If upgrading the Badlands to a Sasquatch is cheap, I'll do it. (It's just wheels, tires, and a small lift since it already has the suspension stuff.) If it's costly, I'll go with 33's, and consider getting larger tires a la cart.
Looks/style matters...
I'm working with Trevor Jollie. We've exchanged a few emails since my reservation. He said we'd talk more closer to December. I wish I had more info for you.
I thought about getting black, just for the wrap/repaint. I don't plan to sell this rig, so I don't care about losing value for painting it. I just don't want to spend a bunch of money on paint, just to scratch it up on the trails. lol. Can't have it all.
If adding a v6, sasquatch, black top, and mid package takes the Badlands over 60k, I'd seriously balk. I'd have to lower my expectations, or consider my priorities. Not sure. I'm not paying BMW money for a Ford.
I agree. We don't know what things will be offered on their own, outside of packages. The critical part will be getting that info before ordering time. I don't want to sit there with my salesman and waffle over 3 different builds, when I could be obsessing over that at home, like I want to. lol...
