After bringing the Bronco into the garage and measuring, all is good in the world.
Some findings:
Factory wheel stud is 1" (30 mm)
I measured the OEM wheel with a micrometer...
OEM wheels are .425" from face of hub to bottom of lug nut, basically to the first thread on the lug nut.
OEM lug nut...
Actually, this time I don't know what I don't know so I'm going to ask the dumb questions. The last thing I want to do is have a wheel fall off driving down the road because I thought all was good.
Call me whatever but I value having 4 wheels on the vehicle, and it looks odd to have exposed...
Yes the wheels seem to be a house brand. Thanks for all the ideas and observations. It's got to be a simple answer, just need to look and measure hopefully.
I will be kicking myself for not buying somebody's take-offs on FB Marketplace. We bought the Bronco just before winter and I panic bought...
Yep, I got hub adapters for the wheels (108 mm : 93.1 mm), snug fit to the Bronco.
Next step will be in the garage, pulling a wheel to take a closer look. Funny thing is I'd never have known if the lug nuts didn't have open ends...
These are the exact lug nuts with 60 degree shoulder:
Great point about the lug nuts. I did buy a package tires/wheels/lug nuts/TPMS, all at the same time so I assume the lug nuts are correct for the wheels. You never know though - the store is one of a chain I normally avoid but they sell Nokian tires which are the best snow and ice tire I've ever...
Will count the threads in the morning.
It's dark and cold outside now. Tomorrow will just be cold but I'll be able to see what I'm doing.
Ford has 2 part numbers for the studs: ACPZ-1107-A and ACPZ-1107-C, while Dorman just use one part number to cover fronts and rears: 610-748.1 (single stud)...
Yep, stud is short or at least it seems to be short visually.
If my math is correct I should have almost 10 threads of engagement from the base of the lug nut to the end of the thread (16 mm / 1.5 mm per thread).
I think I'm good but such an odd experience to see exposed lug nut threads..
I finally got my winter tires sorted out - good thing because winter just hit with a vengeance. It's -15 Celsius (5 F), scheduled to dip down to -20 Celsius tonight.
I got aftermarket wheels that fit fine, but the front wheel studs do not reach to the end of the tuner style lug nut. I measure...
We're going to the Nevada Off Roadeo in April 2025. I'm sharing the driving with my kid so he can learn how to 4 wheel. He has a '98 TJ that could use more trail time instead of being a city/highway queen.
I hope they have enough 2 door variants at the Roadeo. What is the ratio of 2 doors to 4...
Thanks, now I can rest easy knowing the bore I need is 93.1 mm, and there is a Ford P/N option.
Too bad I have to drive 900 km round trip to get this fixed. That's what I get for trusting the kid at the tire store!
I try to shop local but the Nokian dealer in town is notoriously bad to deal...
We live in Northern Canada where it regularly get to -40 with tons of ice so we need winter tires.
I found Nokian Hakkapeliitta LT3 winter tires at a tire retailer near here that are exactly the size of the OEM tires: 315/70 R17 with studs so we're all good for rubber. The tire store mounted up...
