IIRC they did just that. Somehow something shifted during tow and internal clutches engaged, destroying the unit. With the standard transfer case, for whatever reason, this has not been happening as far as I know. Maybe just because it's a simpler system.
This is why I liked my old truck...
The BD doesn't have the locking front diff but it does have the full skidplates. The HE has the front locking diff (thanks to standard Sasquatch) but only has the front skidplates. Took me a while to get that straight.
Eureka Valley is in the park but not in Death Valley proper. The vast majority of tourists stay on paved roads and visit the sand dunes in Death Valley. Those are nowhere near as impressive as the ones in Eureka Valley, but still can be very beautiful in the right lighting.
I test drove a 4-door Badlands Sasquatch, and found that the suspension, handling, and ride were very agreeable. I instantly liked it. By comparison the Big Bend non-Squatch I test drove didn't seem as solid.

My wife, who is short, has always had trouble getting into our '25 Badlands. Now, with a low-hanging cord handle above, the console handle below, and the Raptor-syle running board to stand on, she can use both hands to get up and into the vehicle fairly easily. She's a lot happier now.
