That's the part they failed to make clear. They were aware they were only good on 1 of 3 factors that determined their allocation and when the numbers got high, should should have posted a disclaimer warning interested parties that the wait could be in years not months.
Excitement is pretty much a sales tactic. It causes people to let their guard down a bit because they see everyone else lining up and feel they need to as well or miss out on something. They commit themselves before doing their homework and as is now apparent, many regrets.
That's why I think the dealer wasn't clear enough about the length of wait time. I have a feeling most expected even if they were near the end of the line, they'd have their Bronco by now.

Dealers are instructed to place orders in order of timestamp, but don't have to, thats the "kinda" part
50% of reservations will be fulfilled based on a calculation using the dealers number of bronco reservations
25% of reservations...
So, if they thought they would originally get 300-400 Bronco's and they knew they had at least 3 times that many orders, why wern't they more open about the wait time? If they were already 3 years out before Ford made changes, that transparency seems a little cloudy to me.
Does the general public even understand what allocation means? You may be assuming a bit too much. Until I bought a Raptor, I sure didn't know and then thought it applied only to limited availability vehicles. I've since learned a dealer needs allocation to order any vehicle.
I did mean monthly allocation. I follow Tim Bartz at Long McArthur Ford and he talks frequently about monthly allocation. He went down the entire list of models in last night's video.
If things wern't working, I would expect Ford to do something. I'm not disputing the fact things changed. They needed to change. You've been here long enough to have seen that Ford went after a certain dealer before ordering even began and was widely talked about here. It shouldn't be a surprise...
It's good to see at least one person realizes the issue goes beyond Ford. Some of the more recent members may not be digging deep enough into history of certain dealers.

So, if that wasn't working, should Ford have just left it alone or try to do something to fix it? Things likely would have been worse than they already are if Ford sat by and did nothing. People would have complained about that too. No matter what they do, not everyone is going to be happy.
OK, feel free to continue to believe that Ford is out to get you and has the parts to build but won't. If things wern't such a mess, everyone would have their Bronco by now. I have a 2nd day reservation still not built and I understand the problem. It goes much deeper then Ford's planning or...
Way back when this became obvious, you couldn't convince anyone to think about what they signed up for. Some got so defensive and were ready to borrow chairs from other forums to throw at those that questioned them.
