Yep, it’s a thing. I went to put my top back on this weekend and slid the driver section in my hand and it instantly sliced my thumb. But I still love the Bronco.
The diagonal rope is extra, me just tying one side to the other for extra safety and not super necessary. I don’t use it all the time. In pics below you’ll see the extra rope is wound around the front left hanger.

Here’s mine. I had this already from my Jeep days. All I had to do to modify it for the Bronco was move the forward 2x4 support back (as the Bronco rear clamshell doesn’t have the extended front section like Jeep does).
This is a few 2x4s, rope and harbor freight hand crank. Works awesome...

Also, my son and I are building a custom (home made) teardrop trailer to go camping/over landing. We have the frame done and now starting on the body.

Finally got around to adjusting the hard top hoist in the garage. I had this for my Jeeps and worked great. All I had to do today was move the forward 2x4 support 16 inches closer to the rear support (to the next joist). Now it works perfect and allows 1 person to raise and lower the rear...
