Oh, nuts! I'm sorry you had that experience. Removing the tailgate is a chore, especially when trying to align the hinges.
I've actually grown rather fond of the Havoc tailgate reinforcement, which is a solid assembly rather than a plate screwed into replacement hinges. Installing it was much...
Installed yesterday. Thankfully I didn't lose my tailgate bolt brackets as a few others have reported!
My only two areas of feedback is that the tailgate and brace are metal-on-metal, so it would have been ideal to have a thin layer of foam to protect the paint underneath to prevent rust in...
Can you share a photo of what it looks like with the tire on? I was torn between this reinforcement and one from another brand. Installed the Havoc one today and instantly regretted the way it looks. I'm also coming Cyber Orange with a black Bronco badge, so it'd be a killer preview!
I bought the tailgate hinge only and received it yesterday, but I do not see how the tire is going to fit if I use the OE tire carrier. There just isn't enough room between the tailgate and the body.
Can you advise on how this is supposed to work? There aren't new (longer) bump stops supplied...
@mabbet
1. Is the Amazon price ($499) the discounted price, or is there a sale going on for Black Friday that brings it down further?
2. Is there a replacement tire carrier in the works as well?
I am still wating to be accepted into the Facebook group, as well. When is the tailgate brace expected to be released?
I was about to pull the trigger on a different model, but like this one way better. +1 to black hardware. The silver looks odd, and I'd have to find a way to black it out.
Wow, that's beautiful - and it looks like you had a great time! Roughly what do tours cost? I'm hoping to do some blue trails there, but it's always more fun with a group, and a guide who knows the terrain + can share some history about the area
Yes, radar. Without Lux, you have only the CMOS camera mounted beside the rearview mirror. That is really only good for lane keep assist and pre-collision alerts. Radar is an active sensing module that continuously measures the distance between the front bumper and the vehicle directly ahead of...
Same issue. Did you disconnect the battery before removing / installing the fuses in the driver-side fuse box? Using fuses with the wrong amp rating can also cause issues, and lead to shorting.
Finished the install.
Overall, I too about 4 hours so as to cross-reference different sources of instructions. I found removing the top most roll bar trim covering the side curtain airbags to be totally unnecessary. Not sure why it's even a step in the instructions, because you wouldn't route...
Man, this is PERFECT! Why Brandmotion doesn't post this on their site is a mystery. Not sure how you found this guide, but it's 10/10
Thank you so much
Has anyone had luck finding better quality directions than what Brandmotion has on their site? Their installation guide PDF is laughably bad, and the images are so grainy that you can't even tell what parts are being referred to.
Curious to see what people have paid for professional installation
How did you manage to install it yourself? I just received mine this past week, and the instructions from the manufacturer are PDF-only, and the images are so blurry that you can't even tell which trim pieces you're being asked to remove, especially around the door sill and the airbag. There's...
I typically only wave when I see another Cyber Orange bronco, because it's so rare.
One time a Braptor driver cut across several lanes of traffic to wave hello during rush hour, and if was delightful, so I waved back.
Maybe it just has to be enthusiastic and with a smile; I can't ignore...
What's the goal?
Is it to customize the look of the vehicle, or add function? It looks like these are attempts to add different styling, but I'm having trouble seeing what on or off road situations would benefit from any of these mods
Ugh, sorry to hear that. I had my Tacoma's spare stolen when I lived in St John's, and I honestly keep forgetting to secure my Bronco's spare. Like you said, it's just one of those things you don't really think about.
Thanks for sharing your experience to help the community, though
That's an interesting point. In the case of a distracted driver causing an accident because they were on their phone, that's entirely voluntary on the part of the driver.
Someone fiddling with their touch screen is still negligent, but the device is built into the vehicle - you can't stuff it...
