Ford is continuing to struggle on initial quality with new vehicle launches. It’s like they’ve learned nothing from the Explorer and Aviator launch…
They indicated the MIC top issue is cosmetic not structural so there should be no liability issue.
Now that we know Ford has decided to hold already built MIC top Broncos until at least October it’s clear customer satisfaction is not the true driver but instead cost savings. Otherwise, they’d deliver at least customer orders and have the dealers replace the top at a later date like for orders...
This is unacceptable. Ship built customer orders and handle replacement tops through the dealership since this is cosmetic. Any dealer stock can sit at the plant and shipped at a later date. Ford would rather our Broncos sit for months continuing to upset order holders instead of absorbing...
The only way this works is if the dealers still carry some stock of popular configurations and they significantly speed up the customer order process so you can get a vehicles in two months or less. Ford is struggling to get anything out in a timely manor right now.
Doesn't sound like very many, just that some people were lucky to have their Bronco escape MAP before Ford figured it out. I'm sure they don't want to absorb the shipping costs sending roofs all over the US to be replaced at a later date hence here we sit.
This is a great question as it ultimately impacts how many impacted until can repair and clear. I'd rather have six people and a thousand good tops doing the repairs than 100 people and 100 good tops.
I have a feeling our "bad batch" Broncos are going the way of the 2020 Explorer and Aviator builds that were also put on a quality hold and "fixed" at a later date trickling into dealers months later. In fact they went so far as to send them to another plant to have workers fix them.
Actually...
I went through the same hassle with my wife's Focus RS and it wasn't fun. While I greatly appreciate the information you're providing the problem is we shouldn't have to rely on you. Ford should be able to articulate a plan for impacted builds and communicate it through the official channels...
