  1. Brake Pedal Rattle

My brake pedal has a rattle/thunking sound when driving on rough roads. The area of noise seems to be the brake pedal within the yoke that comes out of the floor (in a rubber boot) and this yoke has a bolt that runs through it. I can use my hand and shake the pedal side to side a little and...
  2. Tie rod just snapped while turning around in driveway [Update: Replaced Under Warranty]

How does the new steering rack prevent the part that pops out under pressure on the original from popping out?
  3. Mabett Picatinny Rail Available Now

    Thank you!
  4. Tie rod just snapped while turning around in driveway [Update: Replaced Under Warranty]

Tie Rod support sleeves make more and more sense. I've been scared away from these by the "it will transfer force something even more costly to replace" voices. I may go ahead and get them put on. HOW can these break on a driveway even in 4X4??
  5. Ford Says New Versions / Variants of F-150, Maverick And Bronco Are Coming

For my usage a Ford F175 or F200 would be nice. An F150 Super Duty might get it.

Bristol Head up behind Freemons calls out......"drive up here" There is a thread where a poster says it is very doable in a Bronco. It is on our list.
  7. San Juans / Alpine Loop cruise photos

On X Offroad looks very worth a subscription. Thanks for the good trail review.
  8. San Juans / Alpine Loop cruise photos

You mentioned GPS. Will most/all GPS show the roads on the loop? We have the Charles Wells and Matt Peterson Backroads and 4 Wheel Drive Tails book. Also the National Geographic Telluride/Silverton/Ouray/Lake City map. With a little luck should these be enough to navigate the region?
  9. GMRS Frequency Use

Using the example of places listed above, GMRS repeaters are extremely limited to just a few locations. Hopefully there will be more as the GMRS radio service grows in popularity. For the time being, ham radios will have a much higher likelyhood of hitting a repeater in many more 4x4 trail...
  10. GMRS Frequency Use

That is a very good tip! Thank you. I will check out the Texas net.
  11. GMRS Frequency Use

What GMRS frequency do you use? I am interested in learning what GMRS frequencies are being used the most and also in what areas. I know CH 16 is used for general 4X4 offroad. But, for instance in MOAB is there a frequency that locals use the most? In Death Valley is there a preferred...
  12. BAMF Tailgate reinforcement

I'm in for a set of hinge shaped spacers to fit between the excellent BAMF bracket and the Bronco's hinges.
  13. BAMF Tailgate reinforcement

For lugs we just used 10.9 strength 12mm bolts with 1.50 thread pitch. Since we need a spacer we used a regular nut on the tire side of the lug studs. Then used a metal washer and ABS plastic to complete the spacer thickness. This worked out well as 50mm long bolts were 1st used then we...
  14. BAMF Tailgate reinforcement

Getting longer lug studs was the hardest part of this project. Each factory stud has 2-4 tac welds that are very nice clean welds. That translates into being very hard to remove in order to remove the stud. I ended up grinding away what I could and drilling out the rest. The stud lugs support...
  15. BAMF Tailgate reinforcement

As you install try to recall the book us youngsters used to read: "The little engine that could." I think I can, I think I can

  17. Flat Tow Question

Thanks for updating this post! Great information.
  18. BAMF Tailgate reinforcement

This is becoming a quest! Are you smarter than a tailgate? :) Where are you placing the washers? I'll probably get some of the washers also. The whole purpose is to make a stronger tailgate. The way it attaches to the multi-angle hinges is less than desirable. Whats another $25 bucks?
  19. BAMF Tailgate reinforcement

We have the same thing. Could have been prevented by a 1/16 inch reduction in the side of the re-inforcement panel. We worked carefully to align the thing and get all the bolt holes centered. On a new install this perhaps may be prevented by nudging whole thing to the drivers side and not...
