Although I’ve always supported a manual Sas, I see two big issues.
1. if the Manual is a China built unit all this was a waste of time.
2. 4.70 is plenty gearing for an auto but typically a manual goes one step steeper in gearing to match the auto.
So I’m wondering if the axles are incapable...
This just looks awful, integrated bumpers was the worst thing to happen to the auto industry.
Why even go BOF if they’re not going to use a solid rear axle?
EPA has set fines for fuel economy shortfalls, I’m sure there are plenty of people that would happily pay $500 pay off fee to the EPA on top of a V8 upcharge to have a decent engine.
Actually before I was in the field I’m in now I worked in the energy sector, fossil fuel WILL be around forever, in almost all cases companies have came back to oil drilling sites abandoned for 75+/- years and find a tract that was once completely depleted at 80-90% of capacity, more than enough...
At that point what’s the purpose of settling for a V6, sure all engines are going to struggle with improper gearing but the boosted engine is going to be running below the sweet spot on the RPM scale and either lug the engine that is (at the time) acting as a N/A 6 (out of boost) or downshift...
They’re only going up to 35s at this point and by using 4.70 gearing they shouldn’t lose much fuel economy at all. However many people are oddly adverse to gear swaps and when these trucks start rolling 37 and 38s, especially on non 4.70 trucks the economy is going to be atrocious.
The problem is everyone is comparing 1970s V8 technology to current 4+6 cylinder tech.
I get the feeling people are afraid to compare modern V8s and the 4+6s just don’t stack up as well.
Corvette forums are filled with people getting low 30s MPG. Muscle cars have been in high 20s for at least...
Example of what? A denied warranty claim or how the manufacturer will t try to deny the claim?
All the dealer has to do is say there is a “sign of abuse” which could be as basic as scratches on the trans indicating off-roading. More than likely the cheap components will show signs of wear due to...
Not sure where the “bad gas mileage” mess comes from, this is 2020. The 7.3L F250 is averaging 15 MPG. In what world would a smaller V8 in a truck weighing 3,000lbs less get worse economy?
I have drove a 5.3L WT for several years achieving mid-high 20s regularly on highway trips.
So Ford doesn’t want potentially 38% more sales? I guess if 100,000 or so Bronco units with added profit possibility isn’t appealing then maybe Ford isn’t in the business of making money.
Yea I have to say there is a lot of people that want to whine the V6 is “good enough” but honestly going down market from a V8 to a 2.7L (which I have lots of experience with) is a huge downgrade.
No V8 has to be the biggest miss of this entire reveal. If FCA actually has the balls to produce...
As someone that has worked in this type of environment keeping your engineering and production in one place is crucial to pinpointing issues and developing real time solutions. This is how you can pinpoint issues to 25-100 units and solve those issues before it becomes 25,000-100,000 units.
Anyone that thinks warranty will clear up any issues has no idea how manufacturers treat Manual trans customers. The answer is ALWAYS customer abuse, doesn’t matter you have half a million trouble free miles and 40 years experience on manual trans. The customer is ALWAYS at fault when it comes...
