Yeah, 4L unlocks the fun stuff. It also has the benefit of helping with lower auto transmission temps. May not be as much of an issue with these vehicles but in my '96 3g 4runner it lowers them by ~30 degrees. Sucks on the fuel mileage though...
I think where people misunderstand the 4A Slippery mode is that it doesn't say 4A is the only 4 wheel drive mode available, it just says it's the default with an Advanced 4x4 Transfer Case.
While 2H is not available in Slippery, 4A (default), 4H, and 4L are all available. If you had it in 4H...
Check the inside of the wheel. That's where the clearance is important so they don't rip out brake lines, ABS sensors, etc. and/or hang up on the upper control arm.
I had an idiot come around a corner to fast in fresh snow. Somehow I avoided him but ended up in ditch sitting on my frame rails. No wheel contact, no movement. He slid off the road too about 200 yards down. He had shovel furiously trying to dig himself out. Had someone stop and pulled me. Don't...

you can nerd out on wind, temp, etc and at different elevations (as shown by pressure in hpc - hectopascals)
Originally optioned it, but took it off when I was trying to get built. Don't get into real cold very often, i.e. -20f and below. Do have a trip in the future where it will probably see -35f or lower. Will probably look into heating pads on the oil pan/trans pan. Did that on the Jeep and...
I'm sure Toyota has a couple more years of different weird color options on the same ol' thing before they actually put out a redesign. They need to reverse engineer as much off the
Bronco as they can before they actually release any thing, much like the Tundra is a Toyota F150, and the new...
Yeah, they typically shut everything down when it gets to that point. With all the truck traffic and people that shouldn't be on the road in a light rainstorm, it's best that they shut things down
Not true. In fact just today they were requiring ALL vehicles to have chains on Snoqualmie Pass, including AWD. Of course that lasted about 20 minutes before they shut the pass down. In fact all the passes are shut down. Nice big shitshow out there...
A point to make though. Just because you have 4WD and possibly good tires, that doesn't mean you are invincible. I agree chains aren't needed, and if they are you shouldn't be on the road. I believe you can run them, but only on the rear, I believe there is clearance issues on the front...
