  1. Why I switched to the 2.3L over the 2.7L...

Let’s hope this is true for everyone who ordered the 2.7!
  2. Why I switched to the 2.3L over the 2.7L...

I love direct injection. I do a lot of trips in high-altitude, and the power loss is way worse for a non-direct injection engine. The DI stays strong in the mountains (the Turbo helps). Carbon build up isn’t an issue if you add a catch can. And even if you don’t, just clean it every 100k miles...
  3. Why I switched to the 2.3L over the 2.7L...

I already have a VIN. July 19th Build Date. šŸ™‚ Definitely the other big benefit of the 2.3L.
  4. Why I switched to the 2.3L over the 2.7L...

Same here! They get mentioned a lot. I’m definitely thinking about purchasing an extended warranty.
  5. Why I switched to the 2.3L over the 2.7L...

People just get so defensive over their engine choices!! šŸ˜‚šŸ¤£šŸ˜
  6. Why I switched to the 2.3L over the 2.7L...

Agreed! I know at some point after the warranty is up, I’ll probably upgrade the transmission as well.
  7. Why I switched to the 2.3L over the 2.7L...

I agree. The F-150 is just a beast in itself, and has great performance all around. It also has the 10R80 transmission, so it can handle more. If you drive aggressively, there’s no doubt in my mind that the 2.7 performs a lot better than the 2.3, especially with the 10R80. Based on the engine...
  8. Why I switched to the 2.3L over the 2.7L...

I’m making assumptions based on the torque rating of the transmission. It’s pretty simple stuff.
  9. Why I switched to the 2.3L over the 2.7L...

Sometimes on these interstates, you don’t have a choice!
  10. Why I switched to the 2.3L over the 2.7L...

I don’t need a lot of overhead, but anything less than 10% gets a little sketchy... especially when off-roading. Im sure if you don’t tune the 2.7, it won’t be as much of an issue. But the lack of overhead does concern me.
  11. Why I switched to the 2.3L over the 2.7L...

^And this is my exactly why I switched to the 2.3L. Yes, there are other factors at play. But the main issue I was concerned with was torque rating. If anything, I hope you’re right, and the transmission can handle way more than it’s rated. But I was just outlining what made my decision easier.
  12. Why I switched to the 2.3L over the 2.7L...

That’s a possibility too. I guess we’ll just have to see! Hopefully, we’ll all have nice warranties, so this won’t even be an issue.
  13. Why I switched to the 2.3L over the 2.7L...

No matter which tune I get on the 2.3, it’s going to stay under 375lbs torque. That’s the point.
  14. Why I switched to the 2.3L over the 2.7L...

Correct, and that’s why the Ford Ranger gets the 10R80 transmission, not the 10R60 like the Bronco.
  15. Why I switched to the 2.3L over the 2.7L...

First off, nobody is outraged or complaining (besides you). This thread logically explains why I chose the 2.3L over the 2.7L. This is due to the torque rating of the 10R60. Yes, most car people research the transmission before purchasing. You don’t? The transmission is called 10R60 because...
  16. Why I switched to the 2.3L over the 2.7L...

Makes your decision easier, because then you only have one choice of engine (2.3L).
  17. Why I switched to the 2.3L over the 2.7L...

I think that’s probably smart. I’m going to do the same as well. You getting it through your dealership?
  18. Why I switched to the 2.3L over the 2.7L...

This is definitely true, and really good to know!
  19. Why I switched to the 2.3L over the 2.7L...

A Ford tune for the 2.3 won’t even come close to the amount of torque the 2.7 has. If you don’t even understand that, then of course the logic is going to be confusing for you.
  20. Why I switched to the 2.3L over the 2.7L...

You don’t need to be an engineer to understand basic torque ratings šŸ˜‚šŸ¤£šŸ˜
