  1. Which is the more reliable engine 2.3 or 2.7?

How often is the engine itself the 'weak link' on a modern passenger vehicle? When they 'die' (i.e. require more than the value of the vehicle to repair), it seems to usually be electronics, transmission, frame rust, cooling system, etc. The V6 has had recent teething problems and has way more...
  2. The Plan & Offer - Stephens Auto Center's Mid Atlantic Bronco Connection

It was on my Bill of Sale from the getgo; I never had to mention it. I'm expecting another price protection check in a few months once Stephens gets their payment from Ford.
  3. The Plan & Offer - Stephens Auto Center's Mid Atlantic Bronco Connection

Picked up my Bronco at Stephens yesterday; and drove it 3 hours back home. Super-smooth experience all the way! Rarely is the cheapest option also the best option, but Stephens is one of those rare circumstances. It's literally the only time I bought a car that no one tried to upsell me on ANYTHING.
  4. 7spd weighted shift knob??

I believe the Bronco 7MT is cable-actuated, so there is no mechanical connection between any axial load applied to the shifter and the transmission itself. Personally, I'm hoping for a leather-wrapped billet aluminum option. The Boomba is out for me because 1. the touch points are plastic 2...
  5. Will a hybrid powertrain be a 2023 option?

They still haven't figured out how to build/sell the modular hardtop, which was originally supposed to be a launch option. I wouldn't hold my breath for an entirely new powertrain any time soon. I see those Wrangler 4xes everywhere now, so there is clearly a market. But as long as Ford continues...
  6. Winter Tire Knowledge

The first snow of every winter, the ditches in my area are LITTERED with 4x4s running M/T tires. Mud tires perform OK in deep snow, but if there is a light layer of snow/ice on the roads, you might as well be on ice skates. KO2s aren't a snow tire, but they perform MUCH closer to a snow tire in...
  7. AR | MAGNUM STIRRUP® Full Length Billet Aluminum Side Step for OEM Rock Rail - Bronco6G Exclusive Part

I'd like the discount code, please! I'm not putting any carbon steel accessories on my Bronco; they always eventually rust. It's aluminum or bust for me.
  8. Rest your Turbos when you park before turning off car?

This is an important point. Modern vehicles don't stop cooling/recirculating fluids and running fans just because you turned off the car. The last few vehicles I've owned continue to run various cooling systems for several minutes after shutdown if needed.
  9. Rest your Turbos when you park before turning off car?

The worst operating condition for modern DI turbo engine wear and tear is idling, especially during temperature transients like 'warming up' and 'cooling down'. That's when the worst carbon buildup and oil burn occurs. Diesels love to idle, but it's a nightmare condition for DI turbo gas...
  10. The Plan & Offer - Stephens Auto Center's Mid Atlantic Bronco Connection

Mine also got scheduled for week of 10/24. 4dr Badlands, 2.3L 7MT, non-SAS, Lux, MIC, tow. I was #51 on the spreadsheet, but apparently Sasquatch is a constraint now, which is probably how I cut the line. I had ZERO hope of getting a MY2022 (in fact I was hoping for a body color painted modular...
  11. The Plan & Offer - Stephens Auto Center's Mid Atlantic Bronco Connection

On the plus side, the longer Ford kicks Granger/SAC orders down the road, the more money they lose (price protection and rising production costs squeezing them on both ends). So at least they have skin in the game. But knowing Ford, their solution to that problem will be to eliminate price...
  12. The Plan & Offer - Stephens Auto Center's Mid Atlantic Bronco Connection

The only thing working in favor of Granger/SAC reservation holders is price protection; if Ford still has to honor 2021 pricing in 2024, that'll be a huge hit to their profit. Knowing Ford, they'll address this issue not by fulfilling these reservations, but by removing price protection.
  13. The Plan & Offer - Stephens Auto Center's Mid Atlantic Bronco Connection

At this point I want to hang tight on the SAC list just for the embarrassment it'll cause Ford when they are still fulfilling week 1 Bronco reservations at SAC in 2035 when humans are living on Mars and everyone has a flying car.
  14. Dirt Drag Race - Bronco 2.7 vs Wrangler 3.6

Drag racing 4x4s makes about as much sense as comparing which shovels are the best at hammering nails. You can hammer a nail with a shovel, but it's not remotely the job it was designed for.
  15. 🚨 Attention MGV Owners 🚨

Full MGV or a little bit of cloth, either way, I promise you don't actually want to hose out your entire interior. It's still a modern automobile (with electronics/sensors/wiring everywhere), not a submarine. I wouldn't even make a habit of letting it get rained in. ATV/UTV interiors are...
  16. Rising gas Prices. Anyone Planning on EV or Hybrid as DD ?

I have a R1T and a Bronco reservation, and I'm kind of just waiting to see who can deliver their vehicle sooner (and I may take delivery of the other just to resell it for a profit). Fuel vs. electricity costs are the least of my concerns; I suspect depreciation will be BY FAR the greatest...
  17. So...what are the chances the gauge cluster from a Ranger would work in a Bronco?

Heck, you're lucky if your Bronco gauge cluster works in your Bronco. Knowing Ford, they'll probably accidentally deliver a few Broncos with Ranger gauge clusters anyway, so wait long enough, and you'll find the answer you seek.
  18. RESOLVED! Dealer screwed me - 10k over msrp - Lindsay Ford - Wheaton, MD

Unicorn 'enthusiast' salespeople exist. I bought my GTI from Lindsay VW (same dealership group), and my sales guy had personally driven tuned GTIs for like 15 years. He was telling me about aftermarket gadgets they don't even sell there that I had never heard about. Although he quit soon...
  19. RESOLVED! Dealer screwed me - 10k over msrp - Lindsay Ford - Wheaton, MD

I know that's what they SAID they'd do, but what they are actually DOING is apparently trying to build almost all the 2022 orders (except maybe post-March reservations), allocations be damned. SAC is on track to get well over double what their 2022 "allocation" actually is, at least according to...
  20. RESOLVED! Dealer screwed me - 10k over msrp - Lindsay Ford - Wheaton, MD

John at SAC sent out an email to their order holders, and based on their initial scheduling, he projects that all 230ish of their 2022 orders will be fulfilled. Which is far above what the "allocation formula" says they should get for 2022. I truly think the "allocation formula" was just some...
