  5. Update:Starlink Mini review (speed test & mounting options) , In motion supported!

Received the $45 Mini Mobility Mount today. Comes with hardware. All metal bracket. Snaps in rather well. https://shop.starlink.com/products/us-consumer-mobility-mount-mini
  6. Update:Starlink Mini review (speed test & mounting options) , In motion supported!

Mount has nothing to do with the Mini water seal. That's the connectors you use.

SpaceX has two mounts now available for the Mini. They are metal, not printed. I ordered the first one for my upcoming van build. Mini Mobility Mount https://shop.starlink.com/products/us-consumer-mobility-mount-mini Mini Roof Rack...

Why not just design a 4 corner mount? There is no rule that it has to be one large piece.

Doubt anyone has a big screen TV in their Bronco so streaming 4K is unnecessary. Stream 1080p, you won't know the difference on such a small screen.

Driving probably ok. Sitting parked it can get too hot to connect. Reference around the 3:59 min mark in below video.

I'd be interested in the temps the Mini is seeing with zero airflow above antenna and increased radiant heating, being directly attached to the carpeted hard top.

Did work trip with antenna in the level position. Good news is it doesn't vibrate anymore :) I did not see any difference in the random speed tests performed in the level position vs the 18 deg position. It also stayed connected about the same, which was 99.5% of the time during the 16 mile one...

The D pillar is very wide on the outside. The wood would have to be a lot wider to have a second hinge clear D pillar. Go take a look. The adjustable hinge is only for testing purposes. I have a feeling that the Mini will be flat and level, eliminating the adjustable hinge. I plan to make it...
  14. Update:Starlink Mini review (speed test & mounting options) , In motion supported!

So driving 16 miles to work this morning I found this design vibrates at speed. Tomorrow I will drive with it all the way up level (and speed test). It should vibrate less because it will press on the speaker pod more.
  15. Update:Starlink Mini review (speed test & mounting options) , In motion supported!

SpaceX designed the Starlink products to have thermal protection. That is if they overheat, they will shutdown and start working once cooled off. The extra heat of the Mini is coming from the internal router mostly it seems. I am considering a small 12v fan for the Mini when in use if I ever...

@KT_bronco the Mini gets hot in use. It can probably benefit from some airflow around it.

The dish kickstand has two holes. I used a couple large wood screws to attach kickstand to plywood. Dish snaps on kickstand. Drill a large hole to have access to unsnap the dish from kickstand. I got fat fingers.
