I built HPN #420 from the frame up and have had the bumblebee since 2001.
If I ever buy another motorcycle it will have ABS, and I wish I could get the BD with ACC but once you go to the BL with Lux it is beyond what I am willing to pay. When I start to think about paying it I just remind...
My 2005 is at 215k with only a new clutch, rebuilt rear differential, and 2x front driveshaft u joints. It needs to last one more year or I’ll be buying a beater.
Relative gearing is the same in both cases. (35/33*4.46~=4.7) With the 35's you will be dealing with not only a heavier Bronco to accelerate/brake, but you also get hit double because of the moment of inertia of the tires. 33's will be quicker. Off road this doesn't really matter and then it is...
I used to routinely drive my ‘53 M37 with a rear locker and chains through snow over its NDT tires (34”) without a hiccup. Never had an issue with snow packing but the M37 is a different kind of beast. Without the chains it sucked on snow and ice but those tires are rock hard with no siping...
Run Hakkapeliitta R3’s on the VW, Hankook i Pikes on the Xterra, before that Blizzaks. Nothing comes close to the Hakkapeliittas. 315’s will suck compared to narrower tires on snow covered paved roads.
And this is why I have never owned an automatic, even though the ten speed shifts faster and has more gears. I just like making the decisions myself, and don’t need to turn a knob whether to optimize performance or economy. The newer automatics are awesome transmissions, probably better than the...
Humid outside, moisture vapor diffuses in. Gets colder, vapor condenses. Lights turn on, moisture evaporates. Not an issue with water tightness but making lights vapor tight is unrealistic. Not a real issue.
Mileage will probably go up on the highway a little bit.
Mileage will probably go down in the city a little bit.
Acceleration and braking will be a small amount worse.
If you care about off road you are talking about 0.55” of ground clearance. A fart in the wind.
If it looks better to you who...
An engineering major shows up to the hall on a brand new bicycle and is spotted by his fellow student. His fellow student exclaims "Nice bike! Where'd you get it?" The student replies "You'll never believe this. I was walking to class and I saw this beautiful coed stop her bike, take off all of...
If I see a Bronco with a Sasquatch package owned by someone who does not seriously off-road on a regular basis I see an owner who values form over function.
If you go with bigger tires than you need, it will affect on-road performance. It is not only a matter of correcting gearing, the moment of inertia increases with the square of the diameter and proportionally to the mass of the tire. Looking at the weight and diameter of only ‘33’s vs 32’s shows...
I have a BD reserved. It will be with the 2.3/MT. Ideally, it would have the heated seats, intelligent access, blind spot monitoring and adaptive cruise control. I've played with the Badlands. I just can't see shelling out the extra money for additional off-road equipment I've never needed on my...
Good tires. Good winter tires, but not nearly as good as Nokian Hakkapelitta’s or Blizzaks in the winter. Quiet new, but noisy old. My choice if running same tires summer/winter but I don’t do that.
