  1. If given the option of a manual with either engine, which one would you choose?

Well that was the easiest question I've answered today ;)
  2. 2.7L w/ manual trans (is Ford listening?)

Damn dude, you're hard to please. How about these ratios in a 5-speed stick from Rockland ? Its got a super-low first gear (and reverse), and fifth is an overdrive gear (which should address your concern about highway mileage)...
  3. Barra Inline 6 Turbo

:D? Now that I know I'm working for beer, here are some more options (some can be bought new, and others have been out of production for a while, and would have to be found used): https://www.rsgear.com/products/off-road-truck-transmissions...
  4. 2.7L w/ manual trans (is Ford listening?)

Actually, the Rockland 6-speed manual transmission I mentioned has two overdrive gears: "Designed to replace traditional balky-shifting, wide-ratio truck transmissions with the smooth shifting, closer-ratio transmission, the RSG 4Ă—4 TRANZILLA transforms the 4Ă—4 driving experience. You have the...

  6. Would anyone want to see a Bronco with no removable parts?

I know what you mean about the visibility being oddly comforting! But for me, the downside of the visibility outweighed the upside. Yup - a manual transfer case is awesome! Even though the FJ-Cruiser didn't work for me, I think it is a great vehicle.
  7. 2.7L w/ manual trans (is Ford listening?)

Yeah, but I think you are drawing the wrong conclusion from the limited MT offerings here in the U.S. Up until 2018, Ram offered a manual in the 2500 diesel; the Cummins when paired with the MT produced 650 lb/ft of torque (I know I'm referencing a heavy duty truck, not a light truck that you...
  8. Would anyone want to see a Bronco with no removable parts?

I agree. In addition to the FJ-Cruiser being a little too "short" for a lot of people (i.e. no true four-door option) the visibility was abysmal. I really wanted one though. A lot of people don't know that the manual transmission FJ had full-time four-wheel drive, as well as traditional 4-High...
  9. Would anyone want to see a Bronco with no removable parts?

You are not the only one who wants to see the rebirth of the traditional Defender with some modern updates. Ineos is getting near production on the Grenadier, which will have solid axles (front and rear), wagon-style (no removable top), two-speed transfer case, locking differentials, and an...
  10. 2.7L w/ manual trans (is Ford listening?)

I couldn't agree more! Its true that manual sales are very low, but Ford went ahead anyway and put a MT in the Bronco (so we are not talking about convincing Ford to offer a MT). Why go to that trouble, and engage in the additional manufacturing cost, and instead of using a slightly more...
  11. Bronco to get EyeQ4 to support Co-Pilot360 - No "Active Drive Assist"

Then here you are... "Old news"? Okay, here are three references from the last seven months: https://www.dallasnews.com/business...f-the-world-can-take-control-of-your-vehicle/ https://www.rd.com/list/ways-hackers-can-take-control-of-your-car/...
  12. Bronco to get EyeQ4 to support Co-Pilot360 - No "Active Drive Assist"

Read Post #75 - where I respond to someone else who said it was "old news". I'm not going to repeat the post here.
  13. Bronco to get EyeQ4 to support Co-Pilot360 - No "Active Drive Assist"

"Old news"? Okay, here are three references from the last seven months: https://www.dallasnews.com/business/autos/2020/01/11/hackers-on-the-other-side-of-the-world-can-take-control-of-your-vehicle/ https://www.rd.com/list/ways-hackers-can-take-control-of-your-car/...
  14. Bronco to get EyeQ4 to support Co-Pilot360 - No "Active Drive Assist"

Here is a short quote from the 2015 Wired article, for those who won't bother to click on the link: "As the two hackers remotely toyed with the air-conditioning, radio, and windshield wipers, I mentally congratulated myself on my courage under pressure. That's when they cut the transmission...
  15. Bronco to get EyeQ4 to support Co-Pilot360 - No "Active Drive Assist"

You should look into what hackers are already capable of doing - and this is long before the rollout of truly autonomous vehicles. Here is just one story about two "white-hat" hackers who consult for major car manufacturers, and how they can hack cars. Its from 2015, and there is more recent...
  16. Bronco to get EyeQ4 to support Co-Pilot360 - No "Active Drive Assist"

"A quantum leap from a truck applying the brakes for you" I'm not sure what you mean by this. Auto-braking is already here. My buddy with a new Ram 1500 has it, and hates it. I'm not a fan either. Its not calibrated very well, and hits the brakes when it shouldn't. We were moving forward in his...
  17. Sasquatch Package With Manual Transmission [Sign Petition For It!]

I appreciate your positive attitude (no sarcasm here, I'm being sincere). But you still are confined to the 2.3 with the manual, and the 2.3 is a less reliable (as well as less powerful) engine than the 2.7. In addition, you have to do that work yourself, which costs (a) time, and (b) money (in...
  18. Sasquatch Package With Manual Transmission [Sign Petition For It!]

So a Bronco on 37s needs 112 pound/feet of torque to get rolling. Please check out the Rockland Standard Gear 6-Speed TRANZILLA 4×4 Transmission: "Available for Chevy, GMC, Ford, Dodge and Jeep vehicles the 4×4 TRANZILLA is available in three torque ratings – 500, 700 and 850 ft.lbs. The higher...
  19. Sasquatch Package With Manual Transmission [Sign Petition For It!]

Of course you are right - MTs make up a low percent of vehicle sales; 6.7% of new vehicle sales in 2010, according to Jalopnik, and I'm sure that number has dropped over the last ten years. https://jalopnik.com/6-7-of-vehicles-sold-in-u-s-have-manual-transmissions-5694777 But Ford went ahead...
