  1. BAJA bull guard - one difficult bolt

Yep. I just wanted CJ to quick ship me a new one and I’ll ship this one back so I can have my ride squared away. If you knew how much time I’ve spent on this project it’s insane.
  2. BAJA bull guard - one difficult bolt

Thanks. But it won’t go in the hole at all. Even with it off. I’m trying to get them to ship me a replacement, but I don’t think they’re convinced.
  3. BAJA bull guard - one difficult bolt

Thanks for the advice. This is the best strategy for sure. I noticed the shop put that “turn” bolt there too. Either way I have spares of both styles of bolts. That hole is too tight to fit the bolt because of the proximity of the hole to the weld is my current theory. It’s just tight enough to...
  4. BAJA bull guard - one difficult bolt

What I’ve found out on here is the problem hole is welded a little bit closer to the hole than other side where it worked. It’s just enough to prevent the bolt from going it. And it’s close enough to drive me crazy.
  5. BAJA bull guard - one difficult bolt

Well you were right. On the “problem side” the weld is directly up on the side of the hole for the bolt. On the other side where the bolt was able to fit there is more space between the bolt head and the weld. (That space is occupied by the washer, but is there.) so the defect is not the angle...
  6. BAJA bull guard - one difficult bolt

Thank you very much for responding. It seems I put you on blast, but have since edited my post towards CJ Pony Parts.com where I purchased this item. It’s just a little frustrating sending 5 emails asking for a replacement when an “on sale” item project doesn't go smoothly. From...
  7. BAJA bull guard - one difficult bolt

I wish. It’s the angle of the weld on this side. It’s defective.
  8. BAJA bull guard - one difficult bolt

It’s not. It worked fine on the passenger side. The angle is welded much sharper on this side and won’t allow a bolt in, compromising the strength and looks.
  9. BAJA bull guard - one difficult bolt

To clarify it’s CJ Pony Parts that’s making it less than easy.
  10. BAJA bull guard - one difficult bolt

no bolt will ever fit there. My only option is to glue a bolt head for looks, but why should I do that.
  11. BAJA bull guard - one difficult bolt

    ford factory modular bumper.
  12. BAJA bull guard - one difficult bolt

Unfortunately no. That bolt is just being used as demonstration for the photo CJ pony parts.com required. The other provided bolts are the same length and will not fit that one spot. I’ve also had my professional shop Off Road Warehouse Marietta, GA, advise me of this issue. Someone who welded...
  13. BAJA bull guard - one difficult bolt

I got mine on sale form CJ Pony Parts and took it to an off road shop because I had some stuck bolts on my modular bumper I was surprised when the mechanic advised he wouldn’t be able to install it because there was a bad weld angle which won’t allow a bolt to be placed in the hole I had him...
  14. I found a nice new ‘23

you can add the same aux switches later or have an off-road shop do it. Or just wire a basic switch from Amazon to somewhere on or under your dash.
  15. Update “Modular” front bumper bolts stuck

UPDATE: I took my vehicle to an off-road shop to pay to have the bull guard installed. They were able to remove the stuck bolts with no problem. BUT the mechanic informed me that the bull guard is defective. The angle the between where base plate was welded to the tube is different on one side...
  16. Update “Modular” front bumper bolts stuck

That is probably what the mechanic will do. He mentioned the impact tool. I don’t have that tool or the drill bits or extractor bits. Also I bet he’ll have to drill them out. Going to swing by for an estimate quote in the morning. This is going to ad $$$ to what should have been a simple bolt...
  17. Update “Modular” front bumper bolts stuck

I’ve removed the rear bumper and the sensors were going haywire for a day. They are a pet of the front sensor system too. So I had to remove it 2 more times to correct that. Also the steel modular. bumper is pretty heavy for one person to take on and off. I was struggling to put it back...
  18. Update “Modular” front bumper bolts stuck

I got told to swing by for an estimate an off road garage about an hour from me so they can give me a quote on bolt extraction/ install. So good news.
  19. Update “Modular” front bumper bolts stuck

Thanks for the idea. Removing the bumper is too much trouble for the wiring harnesses. This was supposed to be an easy bolt on “cheap” project. but I just emailed two off road garages for an install appointment.
  20. Update “Modular” front bumper bolts stuck

It’s in too deep. I saw where someone put the bit in a vice then used a long pry bar to lever it out. That’s what I need to do, but there isn’t enough of the bit exposed in my case to do that method. I’m not worried about it. I need to find an off-road shop and see if they can just install my...
