The rooftop tents are popular out here in the mountains, but I'm still not sold. We like to setup for a couple of days and hike, fish , mtn bike. So breaking down each day gets to be a pain. Prolly sticking to tent camping for now.
Definitely interested in building sliding drawers for food...
ChrispyKC - Great info there!
In my 2013 3.5 EB, (82000mi) I run Full syn Pennzy, Motorcraft Oil filter, Napa Premium air filter and change frequently in the mountains (50% more surface area). I also drilled the 3/16" hole in the intercooler to drain any gunk that builds up (in lieu of a...
We shall see. The original was actually showing 3200 pounds curb weight for the wagon version. We will probably have tires that are 200 pounds heavier, and another 300 pounds of plastic trim!
I wonder how much modern corrosion protection weighs? The original had virtually none.
I agree. A horizontal surface, with tons of seams, in snow, ice and rain with a twisting, 4 wheeling frame underneath!
I hope we get a hard top option like the original. Maybe in Aluminum.
So, we are now in out 7th year with the 3.5 EB in our f150. We are on tight trails at high altitude maybe 10 times a year.
Most of those trips find us in low range climbing fields of baby heads, loose rock, shelves etc, rear axle locked for at least part of the time. Carrying camping gear...
Yeah, it looks like the Explorer hybrid offers no real advantage in power or mpg, costs more, more complex, no turbo and weighs 450 pounds more.
Nuts to that.
That is purty! What is the latest conjecture on:
1) Round flares versus EB squared off style?
2) Winch mounting, knowing that we will have that big ole intercooler right there?
Why would you suspect anything different with regard to 4lo? Gotta figure they are using something like the trusty Borg Warner T-case from the f-150...
So, big skid plate on passenger side - fuel tank?
exhaust pipe - crossover to a "y" maybe? Seems like a V-6....
Sure looks like a Y pipe with similar cladding to the nearest pipe.
I'll share a good early Bronco dimensions/cargo space story.
Back in the day, my then-girlfriend, an equestrienne, used my '71 Bronco for the afternoon. I arrived back at the house from school to find she had a bought a big pony and brought it home in the back of the truck. It's halter was...
Nice description of the evolution of some of the "value" in our Vehicles, Crispy. Each of those small things needs to be engineered for production and durability.
Oh, And I don't want to ever have to take it to the shop....
