I've swapped. I don't think it's going to move a lot, but it may jiggle a bit. There is a metal prong on the bottom side below that tab, it has some play but it takes a big pull to get it to pop loose.

No need for a mount, both gaiagps and onX offroad are compatible with Android Auto and Carplay so boom small mobile screen becomes 8"/12" screen. That said Gaiagps isn't a full featured app on Android Auto, but you can use the app on phone when connected unlike google maps.
This is a good point. I carry a Garmin inReach for Sat comms, I am frequently in the middle of nowhere with no cell coverage or people.

Using your phone with perferred mapping software is the way to go unless you are bumping up to a Lowrance system ($$$$).
I have an Android running Gaiagps when in the woods/mountains/desert. For city navigation I use google maps.
