Does the base squatch have any armor underneath at all? Anyone have a pic? Aftermarket should have options soon if not.
Rock rails, armor, and 360 camera are my only concerns.
Sway bar disco could be nice too. But I've yet to see it do much on IFS on all the videos to date other than a...
If you put the same size/type of tires on each vehicle they get pretty close to each other in off-road performance. Tires and associated clearance make a HUGE difference off-road yet seems to get overlooked when comparing angles, sway bars, articulation and new tech, etc. The badlands squatch...
Good thread OP. Funny how a rumor gets started and then recirculated like it's gospel. My take is Ford would let it be known front and center if this was the case. Like first page of the manual front and center. They wouldn't want folks test driving engines that performed poorly without that...
So that's what you are going with? That the bronco didn't have the proper clearance for the trial and the driver drove too fast? Did you even watch the video? He wasn't on 30s" like you said, it wasn't a street car like you said (had a locker) and had nothing to do with driving too fast or his...
Not sure why you are rambling about Alabama. His bronco has 32" tires and a rear locker, so it's not a street car (or at least not advertised as one).
He wasn't climbing the Rubicon trail solo. This was clearly a modest local trail close to his house, so his preparation was fine. There is...
No offense man, and of course preparation and not pushing a vehicle or driver beyond their capabilities is always a smart idea......but the baddest most tech advanced bronco ever developed should walk up that trail without blinking. Sure filming can be a little deceiving at times but let's not...
The jeep was on factory 33s vs factory 35s on the wildtrack as well, so that's a huge advantage to the bronco (would rather have larger tires than sway bar disco in almost all off-road scenarios, if both isn't an option).
Would love to see a Rubicon vs non squatch badlands as well as squatch...
Nice video
My key takeaways from video:
Bronco Pros:
On-road driving
Interior space
Newer Tech
Jeep pros
Articulation
Width/maneuverability
Engine options including diesel, V8 and hybrid
Bronco Cons
Speakers
Lack of articulation (know it was a wildtrack)
Safety nannies (yet another...
I think Jeep should at least add a rear locker option to this package across all trims (and bet that's the next step if they need more sales), but still not a bad price at all for what you get.
I bet well over half of all new Rubicons ordered will pick this option now, and as said above it puts...
There are multiple videos now of broncos slipping and putting wheels off the ground and needing 4x4 or lockers on moderate at best terrain (this video included). Could he have backed up, got some momentum and took a better line? Probably so, but there is nothing at all wrong with driving up a...
On a positive note, he was still able to get the lockers to engage outside of the goat modes. I think the most eye opening thing to me on these early real world off-road videos that aren't set up by Ford, is how often you need to use lockers to get up fairly moderate terrain. I think that speaks...
Thanks for the video. The driver took it in stride way better than I would have, if my brand new bronco was missing the headliner, had electrical issues and a goat mode/traction control issue in the first 100 miles.
Plus I know looks can be deceiving when filming a vehicle driving off-road but...
So with all the new Ford products across a broad range: F150 powerboost; Lightening; Maverick, Bronco, etc, do you think Ford or any manufacturer will ever release a street legal micro off-roader?
I'm envisioning something like a street legal Polaris ranger or micro bronco/jeep with some great...
Does anyone know how the cargo space compares to a 4 runner? That chart and photos are eye opening, I thought it was a good bit shorter length wise than a four runner but appears to be essentially the same size in the photos and the specs. I feel like the bronco doesn't have the rear cargo space...
I'm intrigued to see if the 4XE makes its way over to the gladiator with potentially increased range due to more space for batteries.
Of course what does that do to weight, payload and towing.
Also curious if 35s will be offered and geared for straight from the factory.
Too many factors to know for sure (electric vehicles, govt regulations, gas prices, future production deltas, Toyotas counter, etc)
But if I had to guess, I would say 1-3 years maybe a bronco slightly due to the scarcity factor, 3-10 years probably a wash, 10+ years probably a solid front axle...
The gladiators with 35s or 37s look awesome and will go anywhere a bronco will go as the tires help improve the break over angle. I believe the bronco is actually wider than a gladiator so on some trails it will be easier to handle. You also get the articulation of a SFA.
I wish they weren't...
Tow a 3000 pound offroad teardrop trailer in the mountains and you might be close to double digit mileage range. DEFINITELY a concern. Would love to read some real world mileage and towing mpgs.
I have to laugh at those saying TFL is a jeep shill. His new Jeep that is paid for with his own money has roll down windows and manual locks for goodness sake. TFL and Jeep obviously didn't get the memo if there is some grand conspiracy to scratch each other's backs at the broncos expense.
I...
