Try a different dealer. My '21 BD started to show delamination where the rear top edges were ground for the roof rack mounting points. Not major at first, but the openings have grown over time. Less than an 1/8" gap and 2" to 3" long. Took it to my dealer and they took pictures and sent them to...
Got mine 11/2/21. 8900 miles, 2 months in shop last summer for engine replacement (dropped valve) and going in for rear hard top replacement any day (delamination, top came in right away but headliner bo'd.) Yes, two major issues so far but taken care of and love my rig.
I agree. There should be no power-torque getting to the axle tube via the axle shaft itself. I believe it is the tire trying to rotate the tube through the locked brake kind of like the old wind up toy cars that you rolled backwards and the tires wound up the spring. By the way, even though I...
I agree that it is probably the pivot side that broke. Also, as you stated with the diff open there should be little or no torque applied to the pivoting tire by the powertrain. The rotational force is the tire being locked by the brake. The brake caliper is of course attached to the axle tube...
Plug welding has worked well for years on axle tubes. Tires with greater grip for any reason will put greater strain on the welds though if tta is used on low traction surfaces they should be able to handle it. After looking at your pictures more closely, it appears to my eye that the two welds...
You are wrong. A taller tire has a larger contact patch than a shorter tire of the same width. Tall tires can even have a larger contact patch than short fat tires. Ag tractors have been taking advantage of this for years.
Wow. I thought that might be a reason for your low mpg. I drive pretty easy and I am confident mine will come back when I recalibrate. I have learned acceleration kills mpg but a lead foot does feel good sometimes.
Did you recalibrate the odometer when you changed tire sizes? I went from 18.5 to 17 this winter when I went from 32's to 34's. Last summer I was getting 21-22 mpg with a BD 2.7. Lose quite a bit with winter gas.
I think the top itself is solid enough. I think the problem with mine in because after the pieces are formed they grind the edges to true them up. If they aren't perfect it leaves voids in the edges and I think this caused the delam. If the edges were molded when made to seal them I think they...
On my '21 bd the rear top has started to delaminate in the area of where the top racks would clamp on. No racks installed. Took to my nearest dealer (not who I bought from) and had them look at it. The service rep at Corwin Ford took pictures and said he would send them to Ford and get back to...
We had a hail storm like that once here though the stones weren't quite as large. Damaged new and used cars at several car lots. Dealers were selling the cars unrepaired and rebated the damage estimates. When hot summer weather hit most of the dents popped out on their own with no repair...
Funny, but I didn't think you could order until Jan of '21. Do you mean a reservation but never converted it to an order. I was also a day 1 res and ordered Mar '21, received 11/21.
Don't understand why some are calling the 2 dr a sedan. The 4 dr would be a sedan and the 2 dr a coupe. BTW I'm a 4 dr guy but get whatever you like the most. I don't judge. I am the only normal one out there. Needed a 4 dr so I have more echo's when I talk to myself.
I am one of those 50 or so with a failed 2.7. Did I expect an apology or any special treatment. No. As disappointing as it was, all I expected was for Ford to take care of it. The dealer that did the replacement wasn't the greatest but Ford made sure they took care of it.
