Shouldn't have to aftermarket anything for towing. Goofy thing to me is offering a 2.7l twin turbo 410lb torque tow engine on a boxed frame then limit it to 3500lb tow capacity with a shitty ClassII hitch.
What is the 2.7l for, a drag race vs the Wrangler? It's a tow engine, mate it to a tow...
There's a lot to sort through, isn't there. I built a Big Bend now you mention it and came out to $42,370 without Squatch. Similar to my 4-dr Base build with Squatch ($44,850).
I really like the Sasquatch pkg now I've looked into it more. The non-Squatch I keep thinking I would have to buy...
I was thinking Base without Squatch, then do my own tire and suspension upgrades. But the more I think about it doing that would be getting within maybe $2k of Base + Squatch. Better to just get the factory upgrades with factory warranty. Buy once, cry once.
I didn't look closely at the...
I'd get 33", should have 9.9 inches ground clearance and that's fine. I'd add an aftermarket lift front and rear with thicker body shocks (ICON, Bilstein). Probably $1500 - $2000 for the lift kit. Offroading I get into pretty rough terrain, not Rubicon rough, and I don't care to get into Rubicon...
A Base 4dr 2.7l, autotrans, MIC hardtop would work for me to keep the price reasonable. Odd the tow package isn't available on Base, must be a glitch, need that.
Black Diamond seems a nice upgrade but I would put stronger 2.5" shocks on it anyway. I can't have 46mm shocks on the rough...
Seems Ford can get the tow rating up with some work. I don't have to buy anything to top the 2021 Bronco for tow rating. 2008 V8 4Runner is a twelve year older design with a weaker engine and still doubles the tow capacity of the 2021 Bronco (as it is now).
Bronco can be the most badass all...
Compared pics of an FJ Cruiser to a 2021 Bronco as it is now. FJ spare tire on the tailgate sits high enough to hook up a trailer with a straight hitch. The Bronco I doubt I could hook up the same trailers with the spare on.
Sure looks like the spare will interfere with hookup. I'll attach some pics of the FJ Cruiser with spare on and trailers hooked up. The FJ Cruiser spare looks to be about 4"-6" higher than the Bronco, therefore easier trailer hookup even with a rise hitch.
I'm 100% with you. We've gone through...
I doubt the Bronco ClassII is rated for 500lbs tongue weight. General guideline for hitches is 10% of max tow capacity, so 350lbs max. And the crossmember the Bronco hitch connects to doesn't look stout enough to deal with more than 350lbs tongue weight when you're bouncing the trailer on rough...
It's a 2" receiver even though ClassII. Trouble is it's still a ClassII with 3500lbs max tow capacity and 350lb tongue weight. Great to have the 4/7 pin included but needs a ClassIII hitch.
I'm such a dumbass - all I'd have to do is buy a receiver extender like this. 18" and $62.

Lock and roll sells extensions also.
Thanks for the pics. The pic showing the 24" hitch height - on the right you see the spare on the swingout tailgate. I would not be able to hook up with the tailgate closed and the spare on with the 6" rise hitch needed for my trailer.
Rise hitch is needed because the rear WILL squat no matter...
True. I sold a Trailmanor trailer to a man with a supercharged Raptor, had to donate to him a 4" rise hitch because his rear squatted so bad with a straight hitch he couldn't get it out of my driveway when he hooked up, trailer tongue jack hit the concrete. Rise hitch got a good departure angle...
