All the info so far indicates you are correct that it doesn’t have it. I thought I wanted it too but can’t justify the cost (unless it’s under $1k and doesn’t require a package change) for the minor inconvenience of having to push a button when I need 4wd.
We’re at 50k optioned how we want for the major stuff, factoring in the Granger discount. I’m sure once the accessories are made available our budget will be left behind as well.
I would assume they’re pricing it for what it is on THIS model, which is the top tier engine that has two more cylinders and another turbo. Bear in mind Ford sells nearly a million F150s per year, if not more (just under 900k last year) so they make up for any subsidized pricing on it for that...
Absolutely, I have squatch on my other options for an OBX build out and a BD build out. For me, the OBX ticked some of the boxes (auto and Lux option)but just seems to put off-roading as a second priority (Low hanging running boards, painted flares that’ll get destroyed on first brush up)...
So we’ve nearly posted in less than a day what took other threads weeks to achieve page wise. Imagine when the actual BNP drops. It shall be known as the day Ford broke the internet.
Good perspective, never thought about it that way. Took me a while to wrap my head around it because I was incorrectly under the impression that the manual was the standard option for everything except OBX and WT. makes more sense now.
I like the trim but think the squatch package isn’t necessary on it in my opinion. You already have the suspension. I’m going BL but I’m one of the few that specifically want the 33 AT tires.
Spent my first 35 years in MA, which had some good trails but damn near everything was private land. Been out here for three years and it’s a completely different world.
It’s an Outer Banks thing, you wouldn’t understand. Nor would I. When I jump into the mud or a stream, last thing I wanna think about is “there goes the carpet.”
On your BL build you could drop the squatch since you have 95 percent of it already save for tires and wheels, and stay with the 2.3 and the Ford performance tune for $900 to get you the same power as the V6. Should get you under your comfort limit with minimal loss of performance.
I’m fairly certain they’re more interested in the people that plop down large sums of cash for the options they want unfortunately, not the folks who are getting the bare bones base models. That’s not where the money is for them.
I saw that and I think it’s weird they would make it that way, but it would help explain the big difference in pricing between two and four door. Just odd they would only do it on the base. A mystery, gang.
Those two trims are about as far apart from one another as possible in terms of their intended audience. Just out of curiosity, what are your plans for it / intended use.
I’m actually not as adamant about the BNP release as I was prior to this info coming out. All I wanted was a rough estimate for the build I wanted with the major options and I got it now. I feel pretty confident Ford won’t exceed the listed prices, and if they decide to lower them, even better...
