  1. JL Audio Stealthbox subwoofer enclosure for Bronco now available

Heard back from JL this morning. I'll provide the SKU to the dealer today and see if they can find it. I'll report back later. Eric Cole (JL Audio) May 15, 2023, 09:03 EDT Hello Ben, yes it should be ready for production now. The Sku number is 94718. The dealer should be able to order it...
  2. JL Audio Stealthbox subwoofer enclosure for Bronco now available

I called a local JL dealer and they said it's still not available. Has anyone successfully placed an order for one of these?
  3. Stereo Overhaul - Mild Documentation

I've got most of the day to devote. Shooting to have a dry run test by the end of the day, at least with the front stage. Quite a bit of Dremel work. The way the design sandwiches the stock grill piece is pretty smart. I'll need to hack away a bit at the plastic in the speaker housing I think.
  4. JL Audio Subwoofer Stealthbox for Bronco Update

But are there any alternatives that will fit a 10" in the stock sub location? I haven't come across that other than JL's vaporware. But if it exists elsewhere, I'd love to see it.
  5. Seat Broken Stud

Ouch. That sucks. I had my back seats out and in recently and didn't even contemplate that possibility. That's really unfortunate. My first thought was welding, but that'd be complicated. If you can get access to the underside of the floor where this stud existed, you could drill through and...
  6. Stereo Overhaul - Mild Documentation

It gets the job done. Note the surface there is not perfectly flat, so be careful of overtightening if your fuse holder body is plastic.
  7. Stereo Overhaul - Mild Documentation

I assume you mean prefab? For the smaller amp I used a cheap 10 ga power kit that included a floating inline fuse. That's near the battery. The big amp is fused with a holder from Amazon, mounted to a tab near the battery along the fender line. See below.
  8. Now that i upgraded my stereo system which is Best steaming music app?

I'm with you both. I was livid about the forced switch from Google Music to YT Music. I resisted until I had no choice. It took me quite a while to adjust (and for YT Music to improve), but I'm way over the frustration and quite happy with YT Music now. It's been long enough that I can't even...
  9. Stereo Overhaul - Mild Documentation

Little update. The buttons are installed and working. I was able to fit a refurbished Deftech AW5500 above the front bash plate. After too much effort trying to make it work under the steering column, I finally figured out I could mount the amp for this side project under the rear seat...
  10. Stereo Overhaul - Mild Documentation

Yeah, that's another bridge I'm going to have to cross. I'll take some pictures as I work through that and share them here.
  11. Stereo Overhaul - Mild Documentation

Here's a little preview of the front mounting plates from Meshman.
  12. Stereo Overhaul - Mild Documentation

I got them from Sounds Good Stereo. That's where I sourced the additional sound deadening material as well. And honestly, their YouTube video was quite instrumental in giving me the confidence to do the full tear down. In other news... Woofers installed today in the kick panels. And I've got...
  13. Stereo Overhaul - Mild Documentation

I would like to share my joy. I wasn't sure if the kick panel trim would disagree with the half inch thick mounting spacer for the TM65s. To my great pleasure, it fits without issue. Goodbye for now.
  14. Stereo Overhaul - Mild Documentation

The floors were probably overkill, and maybe a waste of time. But this is my YOLO build and the what-if would probably nag me if I didn't go the extra mile. Going full out on the doors definitely made a difference in the sound of the doors shutting. Still get that window slap a bit, but they...
  15. Stereo Overhaul - Mild Documentation

Sorry for the delay. Today's Wordle got in the way of me posting here for the last few days. 😝 Wiring is done. Home runs from the stock amp location to all speakers, 9 in total. Washout floor, seats, and most of the interior trim went back in without too much trouble. Broke some clips along...
  16. Stereo Overhaul - Mild Documentation

A ring of silicone is not a bad idea. Before I had stripped the floor, I did have a mild worry about that potential. I'm not the guy that's gonna hose the floor down every week, but there was a video on YouTube where someone had water underneath the rubber floor. It can happen. But after...
  17. Stereo Overhaul - Mild Documentation

Some mild documentation from last night and today: First, thank you to @Broncola for this post. Saved me some head scratching. There's ample documentation about getting through the firewall for automatics. They get the handy, accessible, and large grommet covering the hole through which the...
  18. Stereo Overhaul - Mild Documentation

Yeah, I've thought about adding some drain holes. I might reposition/change it once I can hear how it sounds. I couldn't find a better place for it higher up.
  19. Stereo Overhaul - Mild Documentation

Ooh. I see that 11" now. I don't think that was there a few days ago. I'll have to do some measurements and see if I could squeeze something in to accommodate that. Fiberglass enclosures are not in my wheelhouse, but there are a lot of contours at play that make a traditional box challenging to...

Hell yes. Ordered this afternoon. Finally (says me after 2.5 mo of ownership).
