Check valve/proportioning valve would make sense to me. Not sure how these are implemented on modern vehicles. Might all be part of the antilock brake assembly. Too bad you get to pay for all the other part swap troubleshooting.

I agree, although as someone that has always done all my own work, this sort of thing is a tough pill to swallow.
I really wish there was some sort of emergency limp mode we could enable to at least get us off the trail. I wouldn't care if it limits to 25MPH, and you have to regularly confirm...

Did you drop down on it wedging it between the firewall and tire and that gave enough traction to pull it up? Or do you think turning the wheel pushed it just so? Definitely a freak occurrence.
Can't say I've seen anyone do that before. Impressive.
Do you know how this actually happened? Looks like it carried over from front to back. Were you in reverse? Front locker engaged? I assume traveling slowly for a creek crossing. Were you hung up at the time?
