This is something I'd be interested in. Mine is a daily and I really don't off road any more. I might at some point...it would be nice for that. I have and will continue to do relief work in Western NC and other places. Having a winch would be a nice extra to have if we have to clear trees...
I'm actually all good with things being all my responsibility (out of warranty). I've inspected my shocks and things look fine for now, no corrosion or fluid leaking/dampness. First sign of oil leaking and I'm replacing regardless.
[Off Topic] I hope that forums and their life on the web will...
If the dealer doesn't give you some remedy while waiting for the recall fix, yes I'd take issue with it.
If they weren't going to do something, I'd get some type of replacement in there if you're intending to keep driving around. I hate that you'd have to take matters into your own hands but...
Or the alternative is that they don't issue an early recall notice or give you any info until they have a fix in place. That way everyone can stay in the dark. I'd rather have some level of transparency so that we know that there is a potential issue even if a fix is not in place. If yours...
Well technically there is no fix and Ford wouldn't reimburse the dealer for doing any work that isn't defined in the recall. So they are just doing their job; maybe not what you want but it isn't on them yet.
This statement is spot on. I'm one that has a good top (2022). I'm fast approaching my 3 yr warranty end date and I've gone over the top a couple of times and will one last time. Nothing. I suspect that mine happens to have a fairly uniform resin thickness over the whole top. So no cracks...
Nope other than the "Bronco". The '75 is known as the "Old Bronco". Yes I'm very creative. But then again the Old Bronco used to be the Bronco back in the day; time caught up with it just like its owner.
If I had to do it over, I would pick a config that would allow me to get a Mod top and avoid the MIC. Ideally in 2 door form but I'd almost cave on that just to get away from the MIC. Having a so far crack free MIC top, I feel I'm on borrowed time. Hand wash only and no waxing.
I daily a 2.3L with Squatch in 2 door form and it runs well. I had intended to get the 2.7L with my order but this was an abandoned order at the local dealer. I also use this as my long distance driver unless we're taking the RV. I like the 2.3L and feel its a solid engine. Lots more space...
You aren't the only one. Yes the design sucks but there are folks who haven't had any signs of cracking. I'm one as well and yes I actually check mine and do know what I am looking for.
The pessimist in me says that all the good tops are just on borrowed time and will eventually fail. Maybe...
I just drove to work today in 4A and all dry roads (ice on highway ramps). No binding or other drivability issues, so yep you have an issue for the dealer to look into.
I was a long time Mobil 1 user but have changed to Castrol full synthetic. My oil change interval is around 6-7k. Cost was my only reason. Used to use Castrol dino oil back in the day.
And that isn't their only facility. I was part of the design team for the Allen Park facility. One aeroacoustic tunnel, one climatic tunnel, and one climatic tunnel with altitude capability. Plenty of soak rooms and 4 drivetrain test cells.
The funny part is that per the last posted constraints list the take rate for the 2 doors was out stripping the capacity. You can see this in the 2 door hard top constraint line item, given that the 2 doors only come with a hard top.
