  1. "Homemade" hard top lift tips!

The Bronco top has holes for the torx bolts just like the Wrangler. I simply lift the corners with one hand and feed the line through. The 2 door JL top weighs 90ish lbs. I believe the Bronco top is about 85. That set up should translate directly over to the Bronco.
  2. "Homemade" hard top lift tips!

My JL set up from another thread. Takes 15/20 minutes on or off. Manual pull is easy - one arm for each line - and sits flush against the ceiling. Strap is just safety insurance after it's lifted and tied off....
  3. Bronco submerged in water during Maine high tide

New for 2023 model year! The Ford Bronco with the CCB option!
  4. Soft shackles?

There's uses for both. I carry two D-rings and a few soft shackles (as well as two recovery rings, two tree savers, and a tow rope) I have a Factor 55 flatlink e on my winch that can use either. Here's a good video explaining the pro's & con's of each:

  6. Air Down Advice - Schnebly Hill/Black Gap Trails

Def start from the 17 and go down to Sedona. Best views by far in that direction. I was just in Sedona last weekend and most of the 'rim roads' were still closed - just checked the Coconino/ red rock road status and Schnebly is now open all the way through. ran the Outlaw Trail loop this time...
  7. I feel bad I priced a JEEP

I spent last week with the wife and dog in Flagstaff/Sedona played in the woods on the rim and drove the Outlaw trail loop in Sedona. Get a Wrangler now and come back to the Bronco when all the crazy settles down. Don't wait for life to come to you....go out there and grab it!
  8. Popped The Top

I removed the 'hooks' that were on the hanging pully and use the bolt/washer to secure the paracord to it. Hoist 550 Paracord Cleats
  9. Popped The Top

I don't know what your garage set up is like so this may not apply. But I made a lift for my JL 2 door's top for under $50. Two kayak hoists, a pair of 6" cleats and some 550 paracord. Takes 15/20 minutes to remove/replace solo & can park under the the top in either direction.
  10. Matt’s Offroad Recovery rescues a Bronco by welding tie rods on the trail!

JKS has a really good reputation for producing quality parts. I've used their stuff in my JL for a few years now without issue...
  11. Catch can needed?

Mishimoto has been making catch cans for both JL motors for a few years now and the results have been interesting to say the least. The V6 is seeing a decent amount of blow by caught in the can - most need to be emptied between 3k & 5k miles. The 2.0 turbo is seeing almost no blow by at all...
  12. Horror story turned reality

'Horror Story'.....yeah, you'll be scarred for life. Myopic much?
  13. Music on USB thumb-drive shows up all screwed up...

Here's a compromise for you. If you're using android auto, get either the Auri Music or Musicolet app. They organize your music library on your phone so it can be played through AA. Yes, you have to use your phone storage - but that's what micro sd cards are for. And you don't have to bluetooth...

Also true, but the 'meaty hands' reason sounds funnier...
  15. Rock climbing fail - flipover

Bummer about your Gladiator - I've 30k fairly hard miles on my '20 2 door without issue - Forest Gump's box of chocolates I guess (the 2.7L owners know that feeling) Yep, the handbrake is angled by design, so's we can get our meaty paws around it in a hurry without barking our knuckles - or...

  17. Rock climbing fail - flipover

It's because I've done stupid shit and learned from it, that I feel qualified to comment. Anyone with lot's of wheel time in the dirt has put themselves into stupid, foolish, rash and redonkulous positions- and will happily tell you about them over a beer or a campfire. I agree, they seem...
  18. Rock climbing fail - flipover

Lol! My JL's an auto and I still have my hand on the handbrake going up anything steep....cause you just never know.... It's like turning on the blower in a gas boat before starting the engine...it was beat into my head at an early age and is an essential part of the process
  19. Rock climbing fail - flipover

A handle next to the seat takes half a second to pull - any experienced off road driver will tell you it's second nature to grab that handle the instant you stall. Or if you learned to drive a manual in, say, San Francisco ;) That's why I'm calling an either/or. If the brakes didn't hold then...
  20. Rock climbing fail - flipover

Don't get me wrong, I find his antics very entertaining - in the same way I loved Nitro Circus. It's his stuff to bend however he likes. But that tipover was pure foolishness. Yes the engine stalled, but did it cause the brakes to fail? That's the only way it's the Bronco's fault (In which case...
