Translated: the *real* B&P isn't going to be released until mid-December.
I can see the honest answer being "We released the still-not-yet-ready B&P shell just to try to get the Bronco6G guys off our backs! We're not even going to try for mid-November."
All (essentially all?) convertibles wree killed in the mid-'70's due to new Federal safety regs. Took about a decade before the manufacturers started offering them again. For some it wasn't economically viable to put compliant soft tops back on the pre-regs models, especially if the vehicle...
We're going with the soft top now, modular later if we decide we want a roof rack. The MIC color and, IIRC, the lack of removable rear side windows is a non-starter for us.
The modular delay actually makes ordering easier for us now, as we don't have to wrestle with a soft top vs. modular...
Tow rating is not so simple -- shorter wheelbase, higher center of gravity, brake size limited by wheel size, brake heat absorption/dissipation capacity, wheel and tire size (large heavy wheels place a surprisingly high load on the brakes), etc., etc. -- there is a *lot* that goes into tow...
I don't want to spoil all the positivity, but -- be careful.
No dealer will be able to place an order with Ford until sometime in December at the earliest. This sounds like a "get them in the showroom, then ask/demand a deposit" to lock you into buying the car from them.
This would...
Yes, and Yes. ;)
Separately:
I'm satisfied, in the sense that I finally have a *ballpark* idea of what my loaded 4dr BL will cost.
I'm *very* dissatisfied, given the extent of the B&P technical problems, errors and missing accessories -- particularly since Ford postponed B&P for more than a...
Only the steel line version is offered in the $2500 package.
(btw, for OE accessory part pricing, while high, iI do not believe it to be completely outrageous - the winch is available for ~$1200, and then you need to add the cost of a mounting solution)
If the synthetic line version (Warn...
I'll prbably still buy, but I don't like the orange. I'll likely replace the grips and vent clips with another color, then get in/out of the vehicle in a way that avoids catching sight of the seat stitching. :(
I'm not NayNay, but I've done this with my CU. I live in VA, purchased from WI. Just like an in-state transaction as far as the check part.
The one thing to watch closely is sales tax -- different states have different laws. When I returned to VA, I had to go to the DMV to pay the VA tax...
I'm in the minority, but this is ok with me. We haven't been able to decide which of the 3 4 dr BL roofs we wanted, and I favor the soft top. So, we order the soft top, and wait until we can compare the MIC and painted tops in the flesh.
Must have been on a track, of course. ;)
Seriously, when we had a C5 Corvette I reached those speeds at VIR.
The windows do move outward a bit (lower pressure outside the window -- Bernolli was right), but I never noticed the wind noise over the high-pitched screams of the driving instructor...
