Procal helps a lot but nothing permanently "fixes" the logic gremlins in the 10-speed. It certainly helps off the line, however there are plenty of instances where it will lag after temporarily braking, etc.
Lube and/or foam/Teflon tape has proven to be a temporary solution. The only fix that worked for me here is realigning the hardtop mount pins between the driver and passenger seat. Worked wonders and leveled out my panels...
You are probably fine without for light rocky trails. My recommendation is otherwise a rear shocks skid at minimum(or a combo rear arm/shocks skid like DV8).
Edit: Recently discovered my DV8 skids were holding water and rusting my shock bolts (no drain holes). Recommend drilling a hole in the...
Edit 1: My issue was a horribly balanced tire (KO2 @ 17K miles). Took 2 attempts to get back to reasonable level (my guess is defect of some sort). Got 6100s and alignment for fun I guess... :)
Edit 2: Previous fix was very temporary. Tires are still balanced but two have 65+ lbs on road force...
Just installed 6100s on my Badlands non-sas 2.7. I went with 3rd clip on front and 2nd on back (didn't want to lose too much travel and mainly in it for the better shocks alone). My lift exactly matches the newest Bilstein #s (1.3" on front and 1" on back).
Install is not the hardest, however...
Installing 6100s this weekend and found that my rear shocks bolt was covered in mud/rust after removal and there is a pool of water in the skid. These DV8 rear shocks skids are holding water (there are no drain holes). Anyone else having this issue? I may drill a drain hole in the bottom.
Well...My reservoirs are still (sadly) in place. I inspected everything and can't find a cause for the bumpy ride. 6100s are on their way. Will try alignment after that install.
Damn. I need to go check mine again. I've got armor over resis and they seemed solid. My rear end has become increasingly bouncy and floaty over the past few weeks (24K miles right now). To attempt warranty or upgrade to 6100s...
Thanks to PNW rain, mine gets a "spray" often. Maybe a full wash every couple months. My paint and mic top are holding up to scratches and mud great. Glad most panels are aluminum.
@NORCALGXP
Did you get your parts? I'm considering a set of 6100s. Hard to refuse jeepsandtrucks with low pricing, no tax and free shipping. However their return policy certainly leaves much to be desired (they can refuse almost any return).
I've purchased from Shock Surplus before. The usual drop shipper experience.
Do you already own spring compressor? Any recommendations? Only heard horror stories of those (main reason for getting 6112 preset with assembly).
Edit: jeepandtruck parts seems to be on a no buy list...
Haven't gotten much feedback yet which tells me people probably aren't comparing the two often.
I'm likey to go the 6100/6112 route. I want control of lift and the heavier Badlands may lose too much height with the hoss 3.0.
Does anyone have experience with both Bilstein 6100/6112 and HOSS 3.0 coilovers? Planning to upgrade from my Badlands non-sas. We put 6112 on my wife's Tacoma and I like them. I'm also interested in the 1-2" lift they could provide. Worried about HOSS 3.0 being too soft (and apparently too much...
+1 for September 2022 MIC. Mine has had zero structural/cosmetic issues. Only the occasional rattle from the front/center mount (misaligned pins I haven't bothered to adjust yet).
