  1. Mobile Ham Radio Install - Yaesu FTM-300

This is a great thread and I've gleaned several new ideas. Just to add to this, I installed my Yaesu FTM6000R control-head in the areas circled. We used an aluminum hardware store flat bar to the screw on the left but replaced with a bolt and on the righside little shelf we attched it with...
  2. Wiring power and antenna through firewall question

Just another idea is to use copper grounding braid to wrap your antenna cable as additional shielding...
  3. Why can't Ford fix the cam phaser issue?

I've read many posts and still have 2 questions. Are all year models of 2.7 affected? And is there a mileage range that the failure usually occurs?
  4. Bronco vs Defender

When we traveled the Colorado Alpine Loop we saw a Defender 4 door. It has to be fairly capable to get to where we saw it. Although it looks like it lacks some ground clearance.
  5. TSB for Rear Window (Broken Tabs)

Not Bronco specific: Every Ford TSB I have been aware of AND had the problem, it was fixed. I was aware of one TSB that I did not have any symptoms of and when I asked they checked and denied the new part.
  6. Bronco And I Found Pictographs, Moonshine Still, And This Weird Hole!

We live on roads like that. Ours is a several mile drive to reach pavement but it is all fenced and most the fields are crop land. It is so easy to get stuck. A 4x4 just lets you get stuck farther from help. You have a great place to explore. thanks for posting.
  7. Original 1966 Ford Bronco

I wish I could understand the psychology behind why I think these look so good. They are plain, simple with very low tech and were most likely designed by someone who knew very little about aero dynamics and art. Yet, they are beautiful.
  8. Successfully flat towing your Broncos?

    I believe it is/was only the 2.7
  9. Successfully flat towing your Broncos?

We have towed since the brake booster time out issue was on going and have done so since the fix. We had the dealer do the time out fix some months back. We follow the tow procedure exactly as in the owners e-directions. I keep a check list in the Bronco and read it each time we hook up to flat...
  10. Trailrax Half Rack on 2 Door Installed - First Photos

This rack has caught my eye for a while now. How are the tabs that grab the Bronco's roof attached to the rack? IE: bolted on or rivets?
  11. Ham Radio / Antenna Placement

Hey Murf, It's been awhile since I've revisited this channel. I do believe that 151.625 is getting extremely busy and many are moving away from this frequency. But if you need it, then you need it. This is the old Red Dot channel in the MURS radio band. In the USA your supposed to have a...
  12. Limited Slip Fluid

Thank you for the answer! I knew it had a locker, and still wondered about the anti-slip fluid.
  13. Limited Slip Fluid

Does Black Diamond with Sasquatch package need limited slip fluid added to rear differential at fluid change?
  14. Why do Bronco owners drive so slow?

    We give up! Why?
  15. getting high beam flashes when using low beams?

Get a proper headlight adjustment and then you will know that yours are set as they should be. Both you and others drivers will benefit if your's are not set correctly. We go to a place that has an electronic headlight aiming machine. It cost us $45.
  16. Cheaper or expensive tow hitch

    A more info. I guess I'm showing my bias. https://www.etrailer.com/faq-which-hitches-usa.aspx https://usamadeproducts.biz/vehicles-parts-trailer-hitches.html
  17. Eliminating cam phaser rattle after cold start

That does sound like a good test. At least if the magic juice is eating the belt it should show up.
  18. Eliminating cam phaser rattle after cold start

Are you willing to soak that belt in a pan of the FR3 for a few weeks? Then report back in February? If it does not degrade in pure FR3 then it will probably hold up in a very diluted mix with engine oil. At least this seems like it would test it.
  19. Advice for using Hill Descent/other options while driving up an down Pikes Peak?

Our Chrysler Mini Van went to the top by just staying in Drive on the way up and using the brakes on the way down. We did shift from D into 2 every now and then on the longest downhill parts.
  20. Where to obtain oil/engine temperature; how hot before driving?

No really knowing if it is needed, we wait until the start up (noise, higher rpm etc) stops and the engine settles into it's idle. Doesn't take very long so not much is wasted and is not being driven as the cold engine procedure takes place. Seems a balanced approach.
