@Roach011 what did Turn say about torque? Is there a specific lube that might better than others for the hinges? Thanks for the post. I have read a lot of threads about how to mount so hopefully not having instructions will be OK. Also I did what their videos.
Not my tailgate but I want to make mine look the same way:
That is the Turn Off Road Tire Carrier. It is the tailgate/tire carrier I am asking about since I want to order one. So far, I have not read anything that would prevent me from ordering. But they cost $699 and with Bronco6GForum Turn...
I have read most the Turn Off Road tailgate tire carrier threads that are posted.
Anyone care to make a long/longer term report as to how they hold up? Any issues? Any suggestions before we order one?
We took off our Black Diamond Sasquatch sliders and tried a side step. Found it way too high for both of us to use on a daily basis. And our pants or wife's skirt would drag and get dirty.
We sucked it up and bought Rock Slide Engineering side steps.
They had great sale for members of this...
When we flat tow ours, we follow a printed out check that shows a list of every step.
Much like a pilot follows a check list on every flight.
Don't I know how to engage the flat tow mode? Yes I do....but I follow the check list each and every time. We also have an installed line to charge...
Does the dealership have other Bronco's in stock. If yes, go look if they have it.
If they do have it the dealership may balk (even harder). If none of the other dealership Bronco's have that you have ammo to kindly ask for replacement.
I am trying to find the part number for the bolts that attach the hinges to the tailgate.
These are the 4 bolts that you see when viewing the Bronco from the behind.
There are 2 bolts in top hinge and 2 bolts in lower hinge. They have Torx heads.
Can you please tell me the part number?
I think...
Joe's Racing makes an analog 0-60 and they say it is assembled in USA and is tested 2x before it is packaged. On their website video they say which standard it is certified to but I forget what the cert numbers are. Comes with or without a pressure hold/release.

This is all very encouraging.
The OEM tire mount just looks and feels to be cheap. First time I took it off the Bronco for a project, I almost threw if away. THANK YOU!!!
Ours broke off on the driverside very early in ownership. The dealer said they were ordering a Ford Repair kit.....??
We took our Bronco in when the "kit' came in. Dealer said it was wrong part. They ended up using the Permatex glue from the auto parts store. It has held for a little over 2...
Thank you for the response. I will bookmark that source.
If the Turn Off Road set up was not so costly (for me anyway) it would be an easier decision to just get the whole set up. Sure don't want to spend that much if not necessary.
@kodiakisland thank you for this write up. I appreciate your "pioneering" work.
I am wrestling with getting the TOR carrier and especially the tire mount. You wrote that you are using the OEM tire mount and there is about 1 inch of space between the tire and the carrier.
Has this caused any...
Just finished reading this thread. Thank you to @broncorik for keeping at it for 2 plus years.
Just wanting to know if those that have been using the HB plate and Raptor hinges are still happy with the OEM tire mount......the part that actually bolts the tire to the carrier? Has the OEM...
