Donāt forget about those of us that had the mod bumper removed from our order as a constrained commodity!
Thereās definitely a lack of clean, semi-stock looking front bumpers on the market.
Has update 3.5.4 solved this for everyone who has gotten it? Mine received that update the same night I dropped it off at the dealer for this and the transmission rattle. Curious to see if they tell me āseems to work fineā when I get it back.
Iām not a fan of light bars (for what I need), so Iām kind of with you. However I think a āblacked outā light bar could make it more subtle. Like this one from RC.

You'll have to dremel really close to the edge, I think. I did consider doing that (as opposed to leaving the Mabett grilles off, which has a very unfinished look). You'll probably get better sound too--these grilles have a lot more plastic than they do open space.
Woodboring spade bit actually worked great, but I only had a 1". Used a hole saw with a pilot bit to get the 1.5" hole... It caught a lot more and tried to move around--the spot I chose has a step in the grille. Glad I drilled from the inside outward š¬
I'm not buying or selling (I just want a skid plate for my transmission!), but the Mabett one is .25"/6mm aluminum.
I prefer North American made aftermarket parts, but the limited feedback for this one seems pretty good--especially for the price...
I didn't realize the trans for the 2.3 sat higher than 2.7 and allowed for more clearance. Mabett skid claims to be 2.3L only? https://smile.amazon.com/Mabett-Transmission-Gearbox-Accessories-Chassic/dp/B0B215L2GB
I considered this when the tweeters of my Hertz CX 165 were touching the pod grille. I ended up replacing them with some component speakers (Hertz K 165) and drilling a 1.5" hole in the grille and gluing in the tweeters.
I'm not thrilled with appearance (when I tried to use some Goo Gone to...
I also have a 2.3L 7MT Badlands and occasionally get the oil smell. I do not have a catch can, and at first assumed it was NHOU undercoating burning off, but itās been nearly 1000 miles since then.
I think the JCR Crusader is the best looking non-winch bumper available right now. Especially when paired with their skid plate that removes the front crash bar mounts.
Iād consider their winch bumper instead, but donāt want to relocate my ACC behind the grille.
edit: JCRās ACC relocation...
Do you have any pictures of the BL w/ stock (or optional) wheels and the 1ā spacer? Thinking about adding them to my BL with the optional wheels. Will just be for looks while I have the 33s, but should help gain clearance once I have larger tires.
I notice the order page has selections of high and lux package (presumably for parking sensors and ACC, respectively). Do you have any pictures of a bumper with those features? Any without the grille guard? Any with the powdercoat? Any up close with a winch mounted?
Sorry for all the questions...
I wish there was an option to not have the Eibach springs level the truck. Iām concerned if I do the spring lift, Iāll be *too* levelāso when I put a bike rack on the hitch, Iāll be squatting. Youād have to do all the install work before evaluating⦠then do it all again to add a rear spacer if...
Bora does slip-on up through 0.5ā. At 0.75ā and up, they are bolt on. With 0.75ā, youāll likely need to trim the studs.
I was thinking about getting 1ā spacers to clear similar sized tires that youāre looking at (also on BL wheels). Not sure if Iād have to trim the studs at that size with these...
In case anyone doesnāt know, the parking brake automatically disengages when you give some throttle and start letting out the clutch.
I just wish Ford would give us an option to have it automatically engage when you turn off the engine. (You could always manually disengage it if you wanted it...
This is very similar to how I did mine. My big error was drilling through the crash bars because:
A. Now I likely need to cut down my crash bars instead of removing them down the road when I want to go to 35s or 37s
B. I burned a lot of time and money in drill bits drilling through these...
I mentioned in the other thread that I don't think it was worth the $400+ cost of entry for this upgrade. Nice 4" speakers in the dash made a much bigger different to clarity than this change did.
When I had 1 pod replaced and one stock, moving the fade from the left rear to the right rear...
