We had to use him when we were there this past May. Great guy and surprisingly very reasonable cost for recovery. A Jeep in our group rolled on the waterfall on Poison Spider. Totaled the Jeep. He got it off the trail and back to his lot in 2 hours!
As mentioned earlier, Fins N Things is a fun trail that is not very difficult. It will give you a good taste of what Moab has to offer. Hell's Revenge is also a great trail and is not difficult if you avoid the obstacles. Both have enough traffic that you'll not be "alone" on the trail.
Got it! Yes, I've driven by it a number of times heading to St Elmo and Tincup Pass. I'll need to stop and check it out better next time I'm near Salida/BV.
Great trip report! We hit some of the same areas on our RV trip a few weeks ago. Also you must have driven very close to us on your leg from Capulon to Salida.

Jeeeeez, people, it's a beautiful concept not intended for production or to meet any safety standards. I think they did a great job of capturing the essence of a 1966 Roadster in modern form.
Agree with @Montana Bronco , overlanding is not hard core wheeling. An OBX is certainly capable of getting you to remote camping spots. One distinction for "camping" is that "overlanding" usually involves multiple remote campsites while traveling backroads or trails as opposed to setting up...
Agree on the the compressor recommendations. I use a Viair compressor with clips to the battery.
Uhhh, NO on pulling the valve core! They are small and you'll be airing down over dirt or gravel and they are easily lost. If you do this you need to carry multiple spares. Get a proper...
For 70 miles of dirt road I would not hesitate to drop to 15-20 psi. If it's a washboard road you'll be be glad you did! Just make sure you have a means to air up - compressor or CO2 tank - before you make the return trip on pavement.
It will take a substantial re-engineering of the rear tub structure, the hard top, and the tailgate. The glass in the tailgate can be a pain in the butt. I have a '78 that has had issues with the tailgate glass so I'm familiar with some of the issues.
That said, the 78-96 style tailgate...
First, I have the Warhorse tailgate limiter and it works great.
I helped a friend order one a couple months ago. We both kind of forgot about it and it has never arrived. I sent an email a few weeks ago and no response. I just tried to get on their website and the site has "expired". Same...
