  1. Engine and Transmission Fluid Temperatures

I can't walk you through specific menue choices but there are two ways. FIrst, my bronco displays a number of engine, transmission, and other temps when in certain goat modes. I think mudd and sand is the one. I think these temps are also an option when in normal mode. I know they are on the...
  2. .

El Bandito is not your typical bronco. I got a ride at a Ford employee event. It was fantastic. After I wedged myself through the roll cage it was reasonably comfortable inside. I'm bigger around than most so there was some concern that I wouldn't fit My fear of loosing the phone kept me...
  3. What are you using to lift & store the rear hard top on the 4 door?

I bought one of these lifts and have been very happy. It will remove and store the top above the vehicle in a garage. They are available via Amazon and some accessory suppliers. Top removal or install can be a person job with it. When it's not being used it is out of the way on the garage...
  4. I was finally asked the stupidest question.

In the mid 1990s I was in a jeep dealer shopping. A young couple came in with a Ford explorer and wanted to know how much their Jeep would be worth on trade. The salesman working with me said it was very common for all types of SUV owners to show up with their "Jeep" to trade or get service...
  5. Admit it, your rig is a "mall crawler"...

    Yep. Mall Crawler.
  6. Harken Hardtop lift - Standard or T Knobs?

Amazon can be a bit vague with descriptions and details. There are other good sellers out there. I bought mine from quadratech.com and am very happy. Not only a very detailed description but instructions available before purchase. The price is competitive as well...
  7. Subwoofer delete installation advice, tips, tricks?

As someone mentioned, the trim is the most difficult part. The speaker is easy if you purchased the correct size. Sounds like you did. The amp mounts right in place of the old dummy amp. The wiring plugs right into the new amp. The pcitures are probably not much help but I'll include...
  8. Block Big Brother

Good start but you forgot a few things. On the vehicle side it is well know that TPMS sensors have a unique ID and transmit while the vehicle is being driven. It's relatively simple to grab the ID and track a vehicles movement. I'll add that this is something that happens. Also, many cities...
  9. The struggle is real.

Just to be clear, I did get it hitched without too much issue. A bit more fiddling to get it unhitched because of the way the latch opens. It catches on the tire tread. The extender is a no go for me. I actually own one for my bicycle rack. Anything heavier is a no go in my book...
  10. Do you use wheel locks?

I laughed at the dealer for insisting on the locks. Especially when they failed to put a long on the easiest one to get. The spare. Although someone may want the tire, I'm not too worried about my Black Diamond steel wheels. If I ever upgrade, I might get some locks. As many have said they...
  11. The struggle is real.

The picture says it all. So close yet so far. Guess I'll be shopping for a hitch mount with just a little more drop :). I did get it connected without too much fuss.
  12. Engine and Transmission Fluid Temperatures

Thank you. Interesting information. I'm well aware of the target engine coolant temperature. Just wasn't sure about targets for engine oil and transmission fluid. Seems they were both on the high end of normal while I was in the sand. It takes a bit of work to plow through the soft sand...
  13. Engine and Transmission Fluid Temperatures

I'll start with an admission. I've never given much thought to the temperature of fluids within the engine or transmission. Yesterday we spent some time at Silver Lake Sand Dunes and had lots of fun. While exploring some of the GOAT Modes and screens I found transmission and engine oil...
  14. Drop it off and we’ll look at it in 6 weeks

This has been my experience as well. On the phone they go strictly by booking known availability. In person they seem to have some flexibility to squeeze your vehicle in. Usually cuts the wait from weeks to a few days.
  15. Hard Top - where do you put / store it when off the car?

I highly recommend a lift system if you have the room above. I have the one linked below. It takes a bit to install but turns the process of removal and installation into something 1 person can do (although another person makes it easier). There are a few versions available. I'm not sure...
  16. Cheapest Forscan/OBDII reprogram tool?

Based on my experience you don't want the cheapest. It only saves you a few dollars and causes lots of frustration. I bought an inexpensive programmer from Amazon a few years ago. It was always a struggle with my older vehicles and finally quit working. The recommended programmer on the...
  17. Why no locking fuel fill door on the Bronco ???

Fords with the capless gas filler are designed to prevent siphoning. I'm not saying it's full proof but it is designed to make getting a hose into the tank difficult. Most cars today have similar designs. So, I wouldn't loose much sleep over not having a locking door.
  18. Was it anybody here who made the wanker list?

If you're a wanker and you know it. Clapp your hands and really show it.
  19. What did your Bronco replace?

My Bronco replaced a 2013 Ford Flex. AKA the "Dad Wagon." The official color name was "mineral grey" which is marketing speak for ugly brown. My teenagers considered it to be worse than a minivan. The ultimate in un-cool. I relished in being un-cool riding around with the windows down and...
