So the solution to people driving where they aren’t allowed to drive is to make areas where you used to be allowed to drive into areas where you aren’t allowed to drive anymore?
Makes sense.
In a “gun control” sort of way…
I think you’re confusing people thinking Ford might want to give a sh!t with people thinking Ford has an obligation to give a sh!t.
It is possible Ford might want to get involved if they thought it could tarnish their name and hurt future sales. e.g. a dealer outright committing fraud...
Meh. By the time the lawyers were done with this it is virtually worthless except when rock crawling.
In fact, just about ALL the tech on a Bronco has one or more limitations on it that render it anywhere from less useful to useless.
The most reasonable thing most people would do would be at least check that it had proper level of oil in it (which you did). Anything after that is just Monday Morning Mechanicing.
F-ck those guys.
Good luck and let us know what the dealer says.
Chains over ice helps - but is really not so much needed with the Bronco. The traction control does a pretty damn good job of keeping the grip.
Chains over deep snow (e.g. offroad) is a problem just waiting to happen! They will get you into more trouble than they will get you out of...
They are an AT. Mud tire treads are more aggressive and typically has larger lugs with larger gaps between them.
When you say “going up to the snow” you mean “on snow covered roads” or “cross country”?
On the road you should be fine with these (Bronco in 4A).
Offroad, you’ll want to...
PROBLEM SOLVED - SO IT WAS THE TECH - BUT TURNS OUT IT WAS ALSO “USER SERVICABLE“ AFTER ALL
Advantages to living in a small town, I guess. Turns out the tech who worked on this thing is actually a friend of a friend. Mutual friend connected us. There aren’t any Wildtrak’s with SB discos...
I concede that you very well may be right. The reason I jumped to that conclusion is that this was not a new install. It had been installed and working for almost a year now.
Possible it could work for several months and then break? Of course. I have to admit that’s a possibility...
I had to figure out how to install this on my own (there’s a thread here with a video of that whole process). Part of my initial research on how to wire it up was looking at the service manual. And it clearly says there are no servicable parts on it. No individual part numbers for the...
Unfortunately, knowing specifically what part of it is broken wouldn’t help fix it. This is a non-servicable part. Meaning there is no diagnostics for it. In the Ford manual it either works or the entire unit gets replaced.
Even if I could test and diagnose the individual...
No. When retrofitting like this you just supply it 12v off your own switch. Bypassing the entire wire harness on the Bronco. So nothing in any of the modules even knows it exists on my Bronco.
I used an upfitter to supply it power (which it is getting as noted)
I’m probably the first with this specific problem - but hoping not the first with this “type of” problem….
So I retrofitted a swaybar disconnect out of a Badlands into my Wildtrak last year. Been working fine until…
About 3 weeks ago I brought the Bronco in to the dealership for an oil...
Did you try stomping the gas pedal while it was running away in park? If it was a stuck throttle sensor that might have jarred it loose. Also you said it was a freezing day - perhaps that caused something to stick. And running the vehicle for a few minutes warmed things up enough.
Tell me you didn’t just use “durable” in the same sentence as “interior” referring to a Bronco.
My dog licks the plastic on this interior and it scratches. I’m about ready to take sandpaper to the entire interior and scuff it up. At least it will hide the new scratches.
Non refundable? That’s the last straw for me. Have been monitoring this since the beginning 4 months ago. Kept hoping that eventually things would get better. Apparently, they are only getting WORSE.
Were I you, I’d be calling my CC company to see just how “non refundable” that order...
I didn’t exactly “trade in” - but the vehicle I had before the Bronco was also a Gladiator (Mojave Edition) I plopped the deposit down for the Bronco and used the one year wait time for it to sell my Gladiator. Figured if it didn’t sell by the time the Bronco arrived, I’d just take...
So your goal is to support companies that hire USA workers. You mean like Tik Tok?
The point being that most things are “made in China” these days. And even things that are ”made in the USA” are made here with components sourced from China.
That doesn’t mean they are not American...
this is pretty common back in the day when towing package was a constraint. Salesman didn’t want to encourage you to add anything that would cause a longer delay for them to get their commission check. ”buy it aftermarket and get your Bronco faster” (the unspoken part being “I get my commission...
