Yes I have the gap (gasket not touching) and it is pretty significant. On my drivers side, the gasket seems well compressed. If I loosened the bolts on the top it might have enough play to rack it to even out the gasket compression a little but there also appears to be an inner seal so it...

Scrub a dub

I don't think the lid is supposed to spring open. The spring is just a counter balance to keep the lid open when opened and the lid from slamming closed.

I wonder if we will get in our Bronco one day and find the dash graphics completely different from a midnight software update.
