To everyone who thinks they can swap to a painted top later, please keep in mind that it will be a long time before they offer them for sale. Every top they make will go to new vehicles for quite a while. Plus, it will cost way more than the $1900 upgrade at the factory.
This is bull crap Ford! First you come out with that ugly grey MIC top that doesn't match anything on the outside. That forces me to order a black painted top so the Bronco looks right. Then you tell me I can't get a black painted top. How about you give us the BLACK MIC top you should have...
Love how that Satin Black top matches the rest of the black production parts. Too bad we're stuck with Carbonized Grey MIC or expensive paint option. :(
1974 with 302 and a snow plow
1980
1978 with the granny gear 4 speed and a snow plow
1984 Bronco II XLS
and now another 1974 that I'm putting a Coyote engine in.
I have been neutral on the whole Carbonized Grey MIC top thing. I'm very glad I went down to see it in person. It's shinny. It has a grain to it that's hard to capture in the pictures. I'm struggling to put it in words but looked almost "stone washed" in person. Did I say it was shiny? The grill...
After reading through the thread, there seems to be some confusion on the tire size of the black two door Bronco at the Bronco super celebration east event. The tires are defiantly 33's. LT285 70R17's.
There is an extensive thread on this all ready. https://www.bronco6g.com/forum/threads/bronco-overland-concept-revealed-with-live-debut-video-pics-from-super-celebration-east.6326/
Keep in mind the Lightning blue looks darker indoors than outside. I noticed that walking by lightning blue Escapes at work. I would like to see a blue look like that outside.
Ford said the Bronco can be taken apart very easily with a wrench. They even showed a white dummy model with parts taken off. I noticed on that model, they unbolted the rear quarter panels -- see image below.
If you look at some of the Bronco pictures, it appears you can unbolt the rear quarter...
PPG is Ford's paint supplier. It comes in big reusable stainless steel totes. I'm sorry but I don't know how many gallons is in one, Maybe 250. They transfer it into holding tanks with agitators.
When the vehicles go through the paint booth, the paint process is the same no matter what the...
Doing this severely limits the use of a $50,000 vehicle. What if you have an emergency or need to run to a store on the other side of town. Now you have to leave it plugged in all weekend and can't use it. The point of having full electric, is to use it as much as possible and not rely on a gas...
Midwestpilot, I understand your concern. I drive a Tesla Model 3 and will be trading it for the Bronco. I love that car but can't afford both. I have thought about holding off for the hybrid version but my biggest concern is the complexity of the Hybrid system. I'm just not sure how it will hold...
Model 3 performance is 0 to 60 in 3.2 seconds
You can get the 3.2 sec 0 to 60 Model 3 for $50,000 not $80,000. I just bought one. If you email Tesla and tell them you want the stealth package, that give's you the performance speed in the AWD long range model. The full blown Model 3 performance...
I'm told the LAP plant is capable of making 5 different vehicles at a time. Realistically, I don't think we can handle more than 3. There are only so many hours a week you can run. You need some down time for maintenance.
We have to wait on GM's contract. Looks like they'll be on strike at least a few more days. Then they have to vote on it. I think it will be a month before we know anything.
I work at the Ford Louisville Assembly Plant, we make the Escape and Corsair. I'm just hoping we get the baby Bronco and it doesn't get built in Mexico. I suspect we will know more after the contract negotiations are over.
