As @the quietman said, they went FWD with the first unibody transition in the 2011 model year I believe. I think that platform got refreshed lightly over the next 9 years until the 2020 came out on a completely new rear-wheel drive based unibody.
The vehicles all have looked so similar the last...
Like others have said, I wouldn't go Mustang unless you can find a way to keep the Bronco also (GT would be way more wise financially than a Dark Horse).
I've had a lot of higher performance cars in my day, favoring sport compacts more (Infiniti G37S, Audi TT-S, VW Golf R, and now a Kia EV6...
Nothing wrong with it, just going to give you more unsprung weight in a lot of cases and arguably harsher on-road ride quality. I completely understand the durability factor though, especially if you like airing down significantly.
I may have spoken too soon anyway since I think the Toyo RT Pro...
Yes, agree. I grabbed those before Yokohama brought out lower load ratings in the size I needed. There's different schools of thought on if E-load is a good idea or not for puncture resistance with the combination of sharp rocks, cactus, thorns, etc. we have in Arizona, but in general I think...
For what it's worth, I had X-AT in E-load on my 4Runner for over 40K miles. Never could get them balanced (and if I did tune them in they were back out within 5K miles).
The E-load was overkill by far. They were an okay offroad tire, but I found them mediocre in snow and not anything special on...
Went out with AZ Broncos for their Ripsey Mine run. Great day with a group of 24 out.
Fun Gila River crossing at the end. Sorry for the mediocre cell phone shots!
I forget where I read it, but I remember a write up talking about how Falken deliberately brought the AT3W in at a very aggressive price point knowing they had a solid product based on industrial benchmarking and competituve analysis. Basically it was about increasing market share and...
I ran a XL load Duratrac RT on my 4runner for about a year before I traded it (replaced a set of Yokohama X-ATs which I had no love for in E load).
Honestly, I really liked them. I always had some reservations due to the Duratrac's reputation for weak sidewalls, but I never encountered any...
So basically do not drive like an asshat with severe snow rated ATs and only drive like a moderate asshat with snow tires.
Jives with personal experience. :)
Amazing how Falken jumped the shark on this. AT3W was a freaking bargain on top of things. AT4W is priced like everyone else and no longer anything special.
I still fondly remember getting 5 AT3W (E load) for about $154 a tire on my 4runner.
I don't want to waste 10 minutes of my life on YouTube. Anyone want to summarize key conclusions in several bullets (other than that dedicated snow tires kicked the ATs ass)?
Just to chime in a bit late to this thread. We've run through puppy to geriatric on three giant breed dogs (Great Pyrenees, Tibetan Mastiff and have a 9 year old Newfoundland currently who weighs over 150 pounds).
We picked up a Twistep for our 2012 Jeep Wrangler back when our Pyrenees was...
Last year I put in an "interest request" on a Lexus GX550 that had come in at a local dealership to see if they actually had it. A clearly "older" salesman called me up and asked if I wanted to come in and see it that day. I told him I wasn't available and hung up.
About 10 minutes later he...
