Aftermarket Footwell LEDs that work with Dome Light Control

I recently ( 2 monthsago) purchased my 2025 Bronco Badlands. I was not impressed with the light situation.
I read 50 forums and google and Chat GPT etc... Everyone said can't tap the dome circuit it is controlled byt the BCM ....

I disregarded all of those forums.
I purchased some Nilight motorcycle LEDs

I found one installation I stole from.
Youtube video, Panda Motorworks, IAG dome light harness kit install


Specifically min 5:08 - locating the harness and tapping the Dome light wire.
Watch the video , then look at my pictures.
- Locate the harness , top one out of these 2, pull the gray and push the tab , the gray bar slides toward the steering column, then the harness pulls off.

The hardeest part of the install was removing the harness connector, getting your hands in there.
Second hardest part was gently and carefully using a razor to cut the cloth wire wrapping.

Red 22awg wire tap, locate the Gray wire with purple line. Get you hand in there and crimp it on.

I mounted the Nilight control module behind the sterring column area,

I attached the ground wire to this location

I put my male spade connector on my Red wire and attached to the Tap

This made all my lights come on. ( Door was open)

I then tested using all the featres of the car, key fob unlock, lock, door open closed.
Lights work just as dome do...

Those scotchlock connectors are a kludge.

Not footwell lights but my overhead rear seat light came with a Y-harness to tap off the rear cargo light. It works just like the dome lights do and is really bright. Picture is a 4 door but on my 2 door I have it placed over the rear passengers. Held in place by velcro so easily moved to cargo area if more light is needed there.

I also had the IAG harness kit without the lights, it came with a Y harness, but I didn't want to have to get that wire all the way back to the floorboards and under the steering column.
So i tried it my way... seems to work great.

I also had the IAG harness kit without the lights, it came with a Y harness, but I didn't want to have to get that wire all the way back to the floorboards and under the steering column.
So i tried it my way... seems to work great.

Sure, for now. But those connectors expose the wire conductors and develop corrosion over time which leads to increased circuit resistance.

If you are trading the vehicle in every couple years the issue will be someone else's problem down the line.

Does your top have the sound-deadening liner? If so, how does the light attach to the top? I don't have a big problem with lack of light, but I wouldn't complain about having more when we are accessing the cargo area, particularly in the evening or at night.

Yes I have the sound deadening liner and light sticks to it with Velcro
